I love this, and you are right. Did you know that America and the Philippines now share a special relationship now? I hear so much of England's and America's special relationship, which did happen after WW2, but don't really know that NOW it's America and the Philippines that share it, and there's a reason why.

Yep Philippines and America share a cool and special relationship. Because of the alliance and also friendship between the two nations 8D

Yeah. What I find cool is that the Philippines also fought for independence as well, though lost. I did some research when I found out that the Philippines fought against us for independence, after we didn't recognize it. I think  your pic pretty much shows the difference in how the two fought for independence. For one, we never really started the war with England. We tried to prevent war with England, and it just started. There were countries that believed that Britain started the war. With the Philippines, they did start the war, at least from what I gathered. The Philippians also never talked with the US government about why we didn't want to recognize their independence, let alone give us a chance to see how being a US colony would work out. Even when the war was going on, we did try to reconcile with the British and King George III himself, though neither parliament or the King would listen to our pleas. Hell, we even placed the union jack on our continental flag before having our 13 star red, white and blue flag. The Philippians never wanted to give us a chance PERIOD.

I'd like to see how someone would interpret the Philippians-American War. That would be interesting to say the least.

I somewhat want to do a doujinshi about the Philippine-American colonial times...

Also, yes. Philippines started Philippine-American war because the Americans killed I think.. 3 of Philippines' men. The Philippines declared war on America. Not only for the death of the soldiers, but also for her longing independence.

There are  also these things about the US stating that "the Philippines is ours forever" and stuff, they didn't want to let the country go. But after America gave us our independence, we changed it to the date when we had our first independence which was from Spain.

Spain sold Philippines to America without the Philippines knowing about it. When Spain left Philippines, the Philippines celebrated for gaining independence but then America came along and didn't recognize our independence, and, we were colonized with another country again.

Really? Interesting. Personally, I think it helps to have someone from the Philippians to know more about the Philippine-American War. I never really learned about it at school and had to research online about it. I mean hell, I was never taught at school about how we gained Hawaii 0_0 then again, we weren't taught how we bought Alaska from Russia.

But, here's something interesting I did find out in my research. The reason we didn't want to let the Philippians go was because of the fear that other invaders would take the Philippines, especially during the two Great Wars. I think the resources were another one too, but I can't remember.

Woah, you don't really discuss anything about the America-Philippines stuff? I mean... For us we listen all day and know all about our relationships with other countries xD.

But yes. Americans were afraid that the Philippines will be taken away. But one day America left the Philippines for a short while just to help Britain with some war. Then Japan came along. Well, the Japanese wanted ALL of Asia. Which means Philippines too.

There, Japan was in the country for 3 years I think... Then the Philippines really wanted America to return and save the country or maybe... Help them win the war. Since, Japanese and Filipinos are at war now. That's the time MacArthur said the words "I shall return" since Bataan, a place in Philippines has fallen due to the war. Of course, they returned.

((That's why I love Americans //slapped))

And, yeah. Resources. Especially gold and oil.

Also, most of the people in the Philippines knew about our history with Britain and Mexico xD it's like... The forgotten history or something.

Well, we might learn it in college, but yeah. It's the same with England. I've met a British girl that never knew anything about the Revolutionary War. She knew about the pilgrims, us being a British Colony, and so on, but that was it. I think it's just  history differences. Like it might be important for the Filipino history, but not so much with American History. We might learn it in college, but not in High School or bellow. Hell, I didn't even know we had colonies until after I graduated, so there you go.

Actually, Japan took over the Philippians at the day of Pearl Harbor. We weren't even in the war, and the attack came unexpected... at least for the people. There are rumors that Roosevelt might've known and let it happen, so we would get into the war, but we're not sure. But  yeah, the reason for us not being able to help the Philippines during the time was actually because we had three of our territories being attacked on the same day, Hawaii, the islands of Alaska, our military bases, and the Philippines. It would be like if you had family living in three different neighborhoods, all of them caught on fire at the same time, and you had to help all three of them at once. Hawaii and Alaska were attacked first before the Philippines, so we were multitasking. Though, we did take the Philippines back XD As my brother always says, there's a reason WW2 was over in nine months after the Americans came.

Lol it's ALWAYS the resources. I swear, it's the most common reason for there to be any problem with a country and her colonies. If there was a top 5 causes for wars against colonies, resources would be number 1. What reason for the British starting a war in the American Revolution? fear of France invading the colonies, and resources (of course!). Why did the Seven Year War start? Resources. Why did France want to invade Britain? Resources. Reason for the Texas Revolution and the Mexican-American War? Gain Texas back. Why? Resources. I swear it's ALWAYS resources. If there was a World War 3 over just resources, I'd believe it.

Huh... interesting.

Woah talking about these are fun xD.
I can't wait for 9th grade since that one is world history
8th grades like... Asian history 8D

Also... Yes. World war 3, RESOURCES is what they're going to fight for.
Some predict that this upcoming possible war with the Philippines and China over the territory which spratlys (an island with so much oil), is going to be the World War 3.

Like what in the flying hell... China never colonized us and that island is SUPER far away from Chinese territory. Then they claim it's theirs? And America came to help us but the chinese told them to back off and just let them focus on their problems. After so many centuries, they do this.

Actually, both countries are getting ready to fight for what's theirs. Heck, even other countries are now siding with us. But I'm really scared about Russia, North Korea and other strong countries siding with China.

Yeah, don't know anything on Asian history I didn't even know that Japan was once owned by China until I watched Hetalia.

Yep. I have seen the future ladies and gentlemen XD

Even today, we can never understand Japan at all. Though, what's more unpredictable is China and Japan. It's like one minute they're friends, and next thing you know, they want to kill each other. It's like they have so much in common, except one is communist, and the other is pro Western.

Eh, right now Russia's having some issues over in Ukraine, and China's dealing with revolts. If either of them try to harm the Philippines, that would be more than enough to get our president off his high horse. Russia is especially already having rocky relations with America with the shit going on in Ukraine.

And we're toast. Obama's like... Russia bow down to us. And he's ready for a fight which is badass but... Yeah. Scary good ole president of yours. While our president is... Uhh... Doing some unknown stuff. I mean, when he was talking, when I saw him on TV I immediately turned it off. I don't know why but our president just puts our economy down.

Aw, I'm sorry. Though, to be honest, there are alot of places that don't like Obama. I feel he's doing great military wise, but in the states, not so much. Our health care is shit, we're still in a recession, and many of can no longer be surprised with Obama making one empty promise after another. I'm not like many of the Republicans here that will go on blind rage (since I'm Democrat), though I won't hesitate to say what I've seen from the actions of our President here in the states. I am glad Obama has set to take action in the countries that need it.

Well, I kinda hate our president since he doesn't keep promises to the country. He's done some good stuff but our country is still FRUKING corrupted. And tons of politics are stealing the peoples' money.

Damn, sorry about that. With mine, it's hard to really say my opinions, because people rather are hating Obama too much or licking his ass. And the same people that lick his ass excuse all the shit Obama's done, but not Bush. Those that hate Obama too much are licking Bush's ass. I feel like hitting my head against the wall a dozen times. I wish it would stop. They both have done great and terrible things. Personally, I don't think Obama is that great of a president, while not being the worst either.
