I'd say in terms of story, Zero or Legends are probably the best.

X5 was such a letdown to me after X4, but X6's where the crap really started

After playing the zero series Ive found i dont care for zero during the x saga. Mainly cause he's a grade A badass in the zero series. Have you played maverick hunter x on the psp? Its a new rendition of x1, and is friggin fantastic.

::gasp:: yeah thats the attitude most people take until they acctually play the game. I like it alot better. I heard they were supposed to remake x 1-3 but then it never took off. Though I guess you'd only really need it for the movie, which can be seen on youtube.

Oh wow... I very much like your version of X! Like that contrast of the red glow against the black. Nice mechanical feel~ I also liked reading your thoughts on the series!
Ah that's true Zero's much more popular, lol. Think I remember doing some casual research long ago Keiji Inafune (MM series creator) that Zero was actually supposed to be the main character; however Capcom advised Inafune that Zero's looks is too much of a change when compared to the original series Megaman that it most likely would turn off too many fans. Inafune then created X to take Zero's place but as he said in one interview (can't recall the exact words,) but he meant that he'd made sure Zero would get the best scenes and/or roles in the story.
And yeah! I was also surprise how in X4 they just wipe out Iris and her bro. I think Iris first appeared in a MMX Gameboy game as a navigator like Alia, can't remember for sure, I need to research that one again. Well I respect the X4 story, though her death was quite a downer. =/
Interestingly there is just one more rumor I'm causally researching - heard from some western site, (a Megaman "Wiki") that the actual X himself was originality supposed to be the main villain. Something like he got fed up with the mavericks and became an iron-fisted paranoid ruler against them (I assume.) Due to Capcom's creation of X6 without Inafune knowing, there had to be a change of plans and "Copy X" instead was thought up. If this is a full made-up-rumor or actually true, it would of been a quite a story twist, huh.
lol I hope my long message doesn't take away from the fact I really appreciate looking at your work. I like how you put your own individually into it along with the original style, makes it very much epic!

Thanks a lot for your elaborated comment. About Iris, she was first on X4, then she was included in Megaman Xtreme 2 I think, but I don't think those games are canon.

lol darn, I meant to say: "I also liked reading your experiences with the series!" Thoughts isn't the right wording.

Ah, well, the red wire like things remind me of a maverick for some reason, but beserk works too, after all, being infected with the maverick virus is just like being in a permanet beserk mode in my opinion.

Excellent work. I love it when people do this-- its not your typical so-so fan art you see everyday.
Thanks for showing us your love for the blue guy! I just recently started playing Megaman Zero again (I consider them the last FUN megaman games). The story is super weird (where X is the bad guy) but the speed and reflexes required are that of the original Megaman X.
But yeah- I remember seeing MegaMan X for the first time. It has to be one of my all time favorite games. Never beat it as a kid though... SIGMA IS SO DANG HARD.

What an awesome rendition of X! He's scary and VERY epic!
I don't know much about the X series, since I only played the first one, but I always was curious about it though. I don't know if I asked you before, but what is the link between the original happy-go-lucky Megaman series and the X one? Does the X one take place in the future?

ProSoul In reply to Nico--Neko [2009-03-16 14:54:15 +0000 UTC]
X series is supposed to be 30 years after Dr. Light creates the X prototipe. I don't know if this marks the end of the original Megaman Series, and there is not game that explains it. The only thing you know is Dr. Light is dead when X awakes from his capsule so we can asume it's on the far future(or year 21xx )

There is an OVA on the PSP game "Irregular Hunter X" called "Day of Sigma"...but it doesn't explain all of that...
