I open my eyes and what do I see?
A place as soothing as a still winter’s day.
A stream flows through the serene place
I follow it for what feels like miles.
At the end, there lies a rushing waterfall
Where children play, swim, and laugh.
Nothing but lion cubs without a care.
A rainbow of colors, races, religions,
Beliefs, hopes, dreams, and fears.
I watch for what feels like
Days, months, maybe years.
Never once do they fight or argue.
In peace they live as they grow older.
Centuries pass, and still no conflict.
What is the secret to this amazing feat?
These people see past what only the eye sees.
They use something else, granted to all.
They use the mind, what they have learned
To truly judge a person good or evil.
But where is this harmonious field, this Garden of Eden?
Alas, it is only in a dream.
