They left only the skid marks
behind in their wake
and never glanced back
though the colors brightly shone
and tried enticing them to come again-
a wall is a wall is a wall,
they knew,
and raced off,
chasing the horizon
where colors constantly shifted
-a sea of colored grains of sand-
until they were absorbed by a deeper navy blue,
becoming the neighbors of stars
and twinkling as constellations,
encouraging us to keep dreaming.
