"No Country For Old Men" one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. My dad does have a suppressed Mossberg.

makes them all the better!

But wouldn't a shotgun silencer only work if it were a slug? Or does the sabot around the buckshot/birdshot/ general shot stay intact long enough to pass through the baffles?

im pretty sure it works with all of them
the pellets dont spread till they leave the barrel so I think it would work with all of them
but Im not sure about it

BECAUSE I DON'T GIVE A FUCK
well...the way I see it, if you're using a shotgun I don't think you're going for stealth. It's a powerful weapon and about the only application a suppressor has is for snipers in the distance or on submachine guns in tight quarters to operatives don't deafen each other. Unless the shotgun is like the AA-12 or the Super Shorty, it's going to make for a very long weapon - something you DON'T want in close quarters. Besides, if you're going to get into a firefight you might as well break out the MP5 and go for an automatic spray rather than a spread. With a submachine gun, or even a pistol you get well over 10 shots. About the only application for a shotgun these days is intimidation and door-breaching.
A shotgun suppressor isn't exactly in high demand.

you got apoint there bro/sis/whatever it is that you call yourself
yeah...wish this place had a chat thinger
but I see where you're coming from, shotguns nowadays are kind of obsolete compared to the new, more modern guns, like assault rifles, sub-machine guns, and just regular machine guns. im pretty sure a pistol can pack more of a punch than a shotgun, I mean for christ's sake, there's .50 cal. pistols now....and then there the old, but beloved .44 magnum, now as far as I know those revolvers arent being manufactured any longer so I suppose they dont really count anymore.
but you get what im saying right? I am one to spray and pray rather than to just keep reloading slowly each time, like a shotgun would. unless its and AA-12 or that other or the saiga (I think those have magazines, the saiga) I would rather have a rifle or a sub-machine, but yeah
TACOS

Shotguns still have their place, so don't be so quick to discount them. Their value comes from two things. 1) slugs can punch through body armor and locks 2) buckshot and birdshot don't require precise aim like rifles and pistols, which makes for quick shooting and good cover fire in melee situations.
.50 caliber pistols are good for their purpose, but here's the thing. A Desert Eagle weighs just as much as an M16. If you're on the field, would you rather have a heavy, hard to aim pistol or a rifle of the same weight that spits 30 rounds at full automatic? A Desert Eagle is designed for urban vehicular combat. I mean, teh power housed in the .50 AE cartridge is staggering. Those things can punch through engine blocks.
Revolvers have their value. They're easy to maintain and they still pack a lot of power. Make no mistake, they're being manufactured. Their strength is their simplicity.

It really depends on your situation. There isn't a Universal Weapon that fits for every situation.

you clearly have not watched beverly hills detective 3,
but I get ya
I never said shotguns werent useful, I just said I dont think they are exactly the most efficient weapons there are, of course no gun is actually, I dare say, super-effective, each one is made to adapt to different situations, I mena, im pretty sure thats why they made sniper rifles (captain obvious much) so that they didnt have to get up close and personal to kill or shoot something, and that kinda the backwards of a lot of guns, for example, the topic that started this whole peaceful argument, SHOTGUNS.
I am pretty sure they made them thinking about needing to go all CQB on someone's ass to blast them away in one shot....actually now that you got me thinking, wasnt the "blunderbuss" tbasicly the first "shotgun"? impretty sure they just laoded powder and then whaterver they found as ammo and it actually kinda worked for the bast, if not for the accuracy.
and I meant only the 44 magnums on the revolvers thing, I know people still make those, only not quite as much as they used to because of the cost or something like that, Im not gonna lie I dont remember the specifics of it all, I just know they are rarer (I dont know much english) nowadays.
the Deagles are pretty damn heavy I know that much, my uncle used to have one, sold it, and it ridiculous for a pistol, and since he's a cop he also had an M16 and theydid wiegh about the same

Movie guns are shitty guns. you won't learn anything from movies, trust me.

Argument? We're arguing? I thought we were having a discussion about firearms...but if this is perceived as an argument I'll be happy to cut it off here to avoid hostility.

"peaceful argument"
I called stuff stuff that it isnt sometimes because my english speaking skills aint exactly the best.
and dont worry I am the most non-violent person you will ever meet except maybe those ponies.
but I think we made our point on how firearms work, dont you think?
I would have called this off since the very beginning of the "discussion" if I wanted but, the truth is, this is rather amusing. 2 persons talking about guns while everyone just stands there with a face that says "what the fuck are these guys talking about" and we eep conversing our way into whatever the poin of this was, we started on silenced shotguns and out of nowhere we start talking about rifles, sub-machine guns, shotguns, grenades, tear gas, tacos, quesadillas and how I am not exactly the most violent person you'll ever meet.
I didnt think this would evovle into such an intirguing conversation...c'mere and give me a hug now you intelligent bastard
