I don't know if it helps but I did a tutorial time ago called duality maybe helping you for practice, you always need to know where is the lights come from

Your tutorial is really useful, thank you  
The truth is some people are more talented than others and they somehow know how to add shadow and highlights. But I didn't give up yet, I am still trying to perfect my technique
