Description This is another landscape 'sketch' thing, where I used a reference photo and tried to reproduce it! It took something like 45 minutes, I think? I also almost gave up several times because it was not what I'd call enjoyable.

If I'd spent another hour on it, I could have made it look much nicer, but I didn't have the energy! I just wanted to get a feel for doing the 'gist' of an image like this, anyway.

I feel I have to do hundreds of these before I have any real idea of what I'm actually doing, so sigh! Patience, I suppose!

I'm focusing on forests - and will continue to do so - because I need to do those for Timid Cervid!

(Edit: I spent an extra half an hour on it to see what difference it'd make, and it turns out that it makes a lot of difference!)

'tis looking pretty good as far as starting in environment painting studies go! Plants are waaay difficult, especially if you're not using fancy brushes; in a way foliage might be easier traditionally rather than digitally since it's easier to get a variation of textures in! Though, it's unfortunate to hear that you didn't find it enjoyable, I must note.

I want to step into this picture. I love nature.
This place looks so quiet and serene, but wild too.

This looks like a park somewhere, I just don't remember where.

You're better than me... I can't do scenery to save my life.

That's what I thought about myself as well, before I tried doing this and the previous deviation! I could never have done anything like this if I wasn't just copying a photo, though.

Every time I look at this, it looks slightly different each time.
Like... more detail or something... O__O

Love the fade of detail on the trees that are farther back- it really helps with the depth

I'd suggest you also show some way to see the reference photo so people could compare them, but also, it's quite good! I always thought landscapes are the hardest thing to do...

The reference photo was from a folder on my computer; I downloaded a bunch of photos ages ago but don't remember where they came from, so I couldn't easily link to them.
