Your work's clean lines, narrow but expertly executed color palette, and disorienting bird's-fish-eye perspective come together to create a lasting impression on my addled mind.
What popped into my mind immediately upon viewing this work was:
'Oh, so this is what Da5id first saw in his mind's eye when he was shown the metavirus in the Black Sun.'
This would be, then, an early step in the rapid obliteration of a hacker's mind after being exposed to the binary version of the metavirus in "Snow Crash."
After spending more time examining it, your work evokes my memory of the scene early in "12 Monkeys" where Bruce Willis is wandering through the wintery remains of New York several decades after the plague destroyed society. Specifically the image of him walking down the street and seeing the tall abandoned buildings covered in snow as well as the image of his face, filled with disorientation and fear.
So to me, this work signifies chaos and destruction in several different ways:
--While it's taking place inside of our own minds = an interior view of the insanity the metavirus creates.
--Its effect on others = Bruce Willis' character's disorientation, fear and general difficulty in processing his surroundings.
--Its aftermath in the real world = the desolate and abandoned remains of New York City in the white of winter.
But this work wouldn't have much to say to me and I would not have spent enough time on it for it to evoke the "12 Monkeys" bit if it weren't for its caption talking about the book "Snow Crash." I would have preferred a quote from the book itself about what the metavirus does...maybe specifically that scene from the Black Sun that I mentioned, instead of what appears to be a piece of marketing to readers of the book.
In other words, I think it needs explicitly defined context in order to have meaning.
But I'm still impressed in the work's impact, especially since I generally don't like abstract art.
Not to say that I myself could ever make anything remotely this good...I mean, everyone's a critic, right?
