'Serial Experiments Lain' - an intensely psychological anime about the merging of two realities; our conscious perceptions of the real world and the wired. I'm afraid it gets rather complex...
Lain herself is a little hard to define. I find it easier to think of her as a concept and not just a character. She is (in part) the unrestricted passage and communication of information... whilst remaining (in part) an essentially human response to the reactions caused by such a presence.
Lain is a victim of her own existence (without choice) by percieving and sharing all of the wired's information. I tried to express that psychology in my art... but you just have to have seen the anime to understand.
