The idea stuck inside my brain after I visited marvel.com and saw the picture of Gambit as Death. I'm a fan of his "French charm" version, but well. I haunted my sister down and took away her history of art textbook to refresh my knowledge. There are few versions of portrayal of the horsemen, one of them is very religious and very Christian, so I didn't use it. "Pagan" versions also have major differences, but I chose a description that felt right for me.Red horseman -- War --

Horses should have had bigger role, but they would steal all the attention and in general, I don't really like horses. I would ignore them in general, but they are *horsemen* of apocalypse.

That's partially why I love your art so much. There's always a great deal of emotion in it. You don't randomly throw things around because they look pretty. In fact, there's usually something that ISN'T pretty involved, but it's beautiful for its honesty.

If you only knew how hard it was for me to google some plague-victims photos to see what plague marks look like. Then I had to draw them... Long ago I did a piece featuring a woman with scars-covered face. I looked for scars online so they looked real. Couldn't eat all the next day long. I'm crazy.
It's actually an amazing coment. Emotional. I'm trying to make my art raw, my own emotions are mostly raw. Thank you.

Oooooh, so this is the project that you would not speak of! It's very ambitious, I must say. So much to take in... Oh, I just noticed War has skulls dangling from her fingers; that's awesome! At first glance I thought Plague was surrounded by crows, but they're butterflies. I'd be interested in hearing the meaning behind that. Very cool the way the moon is in different phases. Fascinating piece, Lena! I can't stop staring at it.

Plague (for some reason, I love this word... Plague... yes) had to be surrounded (and covered) by insects. This is how he/she/it is often portrayed. I looked for some insects pictures and since they scare the living hell out of me, I decided to go with butterflies. I can take butterflies. I associate moths with something negative, too. My day ends with killing a giant black moth that flies through my window and rustles its damn huge wings so I can't sleep. So yes, I do find them terrifying and somehow associated with decay.
Burning arrows suck. They SUCK, but there is no way I'll do them better at my recent stage of development. So let's pretend arrows don't exist. Yes. (Knocks her head against the table).
