This is quite interesting... partly I feel as if this is meant negatively because of the beginning, but then you've got 'splendour' at the end which is pretty positive in terms of the connotation and all.

The choice of words is brilliant. I really like how you have captured the beauty and conveyed it to us here. The way you have described it all is fantastic... or rather, I like the adjectives and the various words you've used to really capture the concept and subject matter.
