Loving the angular look to the design! It really conveys a spunky, energetic character. I have to admit, the goggles took me a moment to understand, but it clicked for me when I realized what the straps were.

The color and lines work really well with the rest of the character, so I don't think they're too simple... maybe it's the contrast between the limp band and the sharp edges of the goggles? Maybe making both the goggles and the band match in some way might help; like, either have the goggles hang at an angle if the band is loose, which would indicate that the band is relaxed and the goggles have a bit of weight to them, or maybe shorten the band, have it drawn up closer around the neck, so it doesn't rest in such an open way?
I'm not really sure how to help describe it, but there's something about the details that feels a little jarring, makes the viewer do a double-take, and that interrupts the flow of the rest of the image.
