The soil would give life to the tree and in all likelihood the soil would be built up by emzymes from decaying plant life such as mushrooms. Such a beautiful system.
I like the sympathetic tones of the greens, yellows and browns. Good composition and the log and background are centered nicely.
What's really great is that this photo looks like anyone could have gone out and taken it in a forest. Well as long as they had deciduous trees.

yes, every shot could be shot by anyone... but many people havent got any eyes to see. thats why photographers love everything around them more than other people, they observing everything in every moment... afaik. and as i do
