Description
This one's a double-whammy, posted both to celebrate Easter and to enter AtomicTiki 's latest Obscuri-Jam. This is Trixie, the "lovely assistant" character from Barker Bill's Trick Shooting (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barker_B… ), a light gun mini-game collection released for the NES in 1990. The obscurity rabbit hole goes even deeper, though, as the game seems to have been based on the 1950s TV show Barker Bill's Cartoon Show (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barker_B… ). Why Nintendo, in the year of our Lord 1990, chose to license such a property, I may never know, but it's safe to guess that Trixie was newly created for the game. In fact, historians have suggested that she may be the first "bunny girl" character to appear in a video game (and from Nintendo, of all publishers!). I call "citation needed" on that claim, but either way, we can all be thankful that Playboy's apparent trademark on the "bunny girl" look never extended to Japan, where Barker Bill's Trick Shooting was, ironically, never released.
