Description Taking a slight break from uploading my older shots. This is a young Bald Eagle I ended up staring down for twenty minutes after accidentally releasing her from her cage.

Anchorage, Alaska. Not sure entirely where the eagle's from.

Great shot of a lovely-looking bird! How did you accidentally release her, and, more importantly, how did you get her back in there? Do you work with birds of prey?

Indeed I do. I volunteer at the local rehab center, Bird TLC. I was gathering water dishes, and photographing the birds through their cage bars. When I went in to get her water dish, I didn't quite get the door shut, and she lunged past me.

Fortunately, she wasn't flighted, but she led me around the yard just jumping. She figured out she couldn't get out while I was watching, so she settled for standing in one place screaming at me. I waited until the other volunteers came out to see why I was taking so long, and they got blankets. We ended up chasing the eagle around again, and eventually got the blanket over her.

Hope that wasn't too rambly!

ah, very good hooray for fellow bird centre volunteers, I volunteer at the local bird of prey centre, too (www.birdofpreycentre.com), and I love it! It's such a rewarding work, isn't it?

Yeah! Rehabbers unite!

Oh yes. We're close to releasing a Short-Eared Owl that had both legs shattered (waiting for the correct migration sync), which is really cool. And its awesome getting so close to the eagles, too.
