It's not that they're inept, exactly; they just aren't as efficient as they ought to be, considering they hunt vampires. They do catch the vampires, eventually. Once they manage to pull themselves away from, you know, drinking, and fighting, and playing Truth and Dare and I Never. Because they're oh so mature.
