Well then, this is my first critique to one of your pieces. I always say that your pieces look nice, and I won't deny it at any point on this drawing, but I have to make it a little hard. Let's go from the beginning though, shall we? The picture is nothing too complex at first glance, and even when further observed, it is nothing otherworldly. Nothing wrong with that, I am a fan of this sort of art, it never feels too overloaded or nothing like that, and that's what I find enjoyable on here. No fancy background or nothing to distract the view from the main figure, which is Dashie on this situation, and I like it this way, it allows one to see what they came to see. I have little to no complaints when it comes to this field.
Sadly, this concept is nothing too original. The concept of Rainbow Dash being presented with a different mane style is something that has been done many times, but there is one thing that shows a glimmer of something more, which is how both of her eyes have her cutie mark on them, plus her facial expression, but I will leave this for the right moment, so moving on...
About the technique, the lines are smooth and it is easy to say "This is Rainbow Dash" by just looking at the silhouette. Coloring fits perfectly and shading is well done and proportions & dimensions are fitting, without any of them feeling "too big" or "too small", and I personally love it. I commented before how the background is nothing fancy or anything, and I feel like it reinforces this drawing indirectly by letting Dash being the center of attention and showing the effort put into this drawing. And as I know, this entire piece was done with a mouse from a sketch, which requires a high level of technique and patience to look good. That alone adds an extra half of a star immediately, seeing how the result looks.
This picture leaves some questions to be answered. I commented before how the weird expression of Rainbow Dash is a "glimmer of something more", and this is the time to comment on it. The expression is, simply put, weird. Rainbow Dash is a character that we rarely behold with a different mane style than her normal one, so seeing her with this one mane style is something that can be considered "not normal", but what enhances this effect is her expression: it resembles sadness in a way due for how the eyes are represented and the lighting that they receive, but then one notices the blush that she displays, plus the display of the cutie marks. The lack of knowledge about the prior situation before this picture is displayed indirectly benefits the effect, because it puts you to think "Why is she there? How did she agreed to be here?". Is there a reasoning behind this? Because it would not be normal for her to simply present herself to a rearrangement of her characteristic mane style.
Maybe I am going out of my way (and I like it), but it's fun to give it a bit of thought to this sort of small things because who knows? Everything can have a layer of complexity if thought well enough.
What is my final opinion though? All in all, the picture is very good. What it lacks in a big originality it gets it in a great and centralizing display, without distractions or nothing. The small details give it new things to think about, and the great display of quality given with a difficult medium (mouse drawing) give it a token of big effort. I like it a lot.
