Note: Just in case anyone misunderstands, this is only a guide to my Otherworld unicorns that are a specific way for specific reasons. How you draw your own unicorns is up to you~ Please be creative and draw them however you want!

Unicorn 'fact': Did you know that how unicorns are typically drawn is based on heraldry and not on folklore? The deer-legged, horse bodied, lion-tailed unicorn comes from how they are drawn on coats of arms, etc and not from how they were described by people. There are several descriptions, one that has elephant's feet, a bull's tail and a black horn, and one that has some kinda crazy purple head, red legs and a tri-coloured horn of red, black and white.

Of course these days most people think of unicorns as just a white horse with a horn. But 'traditionally' they had a deer's head and legs, a horse's body and mane and a lion's tail.

I felt really bad about writing the last bit, but I'm afraid that unless your Otherworld unicorn is albino, you're doing it wrong. For Reasons.

Otherworld unicorns live for about 600-800 years and get huffy about stuff that is your personal business.

Although deer ears point the other way, I prefer the horse way of pointing forward and the tail hair is all silky like the mane, so it doesn't look like the coarse brush of a lion very much.

I didn't really do this for any reason other than it's been a stressful week and I wanted to draw unicorns~

Honestly, if you like my work enough to make a unicorn (or any) FC, I don't really care if you do it wrong.
