Description Time to invoke some late 80's nostalgia by posting this little commemorative pic!

I'm not the only one turning 30 this month.  Around this date, Nintendo and DiC Entertainment teamed up to debut three cartoons expressing the Nintendo explosion of the late 80's: The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, The Legend of Zelda, and Captain N: The Game Master!

Long before Pokémon and Sonic the Hedgehog, these shows picked up where Pac-Man and Saturday Supercade laid the foundation for game-based shows.  Granted, they do show their age, especially with more animation errors than you can shake a Magic Sword at, but to me, that's what makes the 80's seem so...intriguing to me.  Heck, I was born during the last three-and-a-half months of the 80's, and that's another factor in why this decade is worth looking into for entertainment history.  I never saw these shows on as big a basis growing up but I do recall renting "King Mario of Cramalot" on VHS a LOT and absorbing more of the Nintendo charm that Pokémon and Super Smash Bros. started me out on.  Nonetheless, these shows deserve some great respect, airing some fun episodes, no matter how cheesy or products-of-their-time they seem to be by today's standards.  Mario, Link and Kevin provide a fun time capsule into what kids were checking out on their CRT television sets on Saturday mornings around the time they turned on their NES's to play the games these shows were based on.  And whatever leads kids into doing that I give a big thumbs-up to.

Speaking of which, this pic is actually two layers of cels: the main picture is the Nintendo cartoon one and the layer surrounding it is the CRT TV with the NES in front of it.  The TV based on the exact model I have at home, which I mainly use now as a storage counter.  I wanted to set the pic up this way to, again, invoke the nostalgia of late 80's/early 90's kids who are seeing this now and remembering seeing these shows 30 years ago.

I've never been happier to have been born around the same time as these Nintendo cartoons, and seeing as how my birthday--and theirs--is exactly 100 years after Nintendo was founded, Septemper of 1989 truly was an influential, historic and joyous time!

Oh by the way, Link, stop hitting on Zelda EVERY SINGLE EPISODE.  In today's world, that's harassment.

80's Link: Well EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE me, Princess!
