In Ionverse, Blue is Gary Oak's older brother. Although he wasn't always around due to his busy schedule as a Gym Leader, Blue has a good relationship with his younger sibling and has given Gary useful advice on being a Pokemon trainer. He also inspired Gary to choose Squirtle as his starter Pokemon.
