Given how powerful Ryomen Sukuna is, it's not surprising that he was able to reach the rank of Overlord so soon after first arriving in Hell. He would end up being known as the Curse Demon. Unlike most other Overlords, Sukuna never claimed any territory to rule over as his own. Instead he chose to wander around Hell, committing many acts of violence wherever he went and fighting against other powerful demons.

Sukuna's increase in power as an Overlord would carry over to when he was incarnated into Yuji Itadori. He also found he was freely able to move between Hell and his territory. The drawbacks to this second discovery were that he would only be allowed to do this as long as all 20 of his fingers hadn't been ingested and each finger he eats reduces his power within Hell.
