Everyone hates on her; and I'll admit I did for a short while, though. But when I reread the series, I thought more into her (and read Leafpool's wish)
She was just doing what she thought was right in the end. Leafpool had a moment where her judgement left, believing the clan was fine with Cinderpelt and Brightheart. Spottedleaf saying "follow your heart" helped with her decision of leaving with Crowfeather (Of course, I agree she could have decided yay or nay besides the point, I'm not going to deny that!)
99% chance that she had gotten pregnant during the time they had just left the clans, and neither of them thought they'd be back in the clans. When they learned their clans were under attack, they returned for them. (If cats know how kits form, it was a smart choice to wait until then; if not, it just showed their loyalty for their clans and families-- "Warriors" is weird. I really do wonder about that, tbh. No one seems to know they're pregnant)
Learning she was pregnant left her without a lot of choices at all. Yellowfang was partially at fault for Squirrelflight taking in the kits by lying to her, and at the time, Leafpool was the only medicine cat in ThunderClan, and didn't want to leave her duties.
Her life gave her hard choices, and she chose the 'wrong path' once, and was followed by a series of decisions-- all of them chosen in the path of making amends to what she had done and put her paws back on track.

yeah i completely agree! i was never fond of her but didnt really dislike her, i feel like as ive gotten older with the books i really understand her situation

Yeah! She's in the zone of not my favorite, but I've started to like her. I don't think she'll ever really hit my top 10 due to later conversations between her and crowfeather with "his sons" and the like, but she's not too bad, I'll give her that! ^^
