Description
This is a visual aid for my little sister's presentation for her Japanese class. It wasn't a big deal and I was happy to do it, unfortunatley she only gave me one evening to produce it. Slapping paint on it at one in the morning is not too unusual for me, it's typically how I work. It has it's share of problems but she's happy with it, so I am too. : )Gouache and Ink on watercolor paper

When I was six years old, my uncle told me the story of Tanabata and it became my favourite fairytale, as it remains to this day. I could only wish, that back then, I could've had a storybook with an illustration THIS lovely.

Magpies and robes full of pattern... man, what neatness. The BG is certainly a little washy and without focus, but it reminds me of those photoshopped Hubble photos of the nebulas and galaxies and whatnot. My only problems are where the bamboo gets lost in front of the figures... and that the bird is rather messy and also gets sort of lost.

I know. I hate the bird...and the bamboo. And Cat (my sis) hates me...she just said so, she's right here. I am also apparently horrible, and deserve to be shot...by a bus..
anyway, the background, which I hoped would be a washy kind of milky-way looked a whole lot better wet, than when it dried. I really need to get better at predicting what these washes will do. Cat says the scan ruined it. This thing looked really good as an ink drawing. And then I killed it. Well, I feel like I did, that will teach me to rush my work. : (
Oh, don't worry, I'm not that sad...

I do not envy you your herd of brothers. My mother had two and she came from a brood of five. Hearing her stories, you're lucky you survived. But then...you're not a girl...
..moving on..
anyway, I did enjoy acting, some even told me that I was pretty good. At least, I was articulate. But one has to survive the cattiness inherent in the artform, and lets face it, there's enough cattiness in the arts as it is.
I was watching this documentary on TLC where this guy had surgery to look like a cat...

Glad I can safely say that as the eldest... oh wait, no, that afforded NO such protection. *laughs* In fact, I may have gotten more because of it. The middle one may have escaped the least scathed, actually. *shrugs* Childhood politics. And... *wrinkles nose curiously* No, I don't BELIEVE I'm a girl... at least in THIS reality.
Aw, too bad you don't continue... maybe adult acting groups aren't as catty as highschoolers? Or maybe just in a more elaborate way... I'm not one to know. I just become very blunt about critiquing other visual art. *snickers*
Whoa, yeah, I've seen that stuff! A woman did it... she's in Guinness' book of records, I think. I've also seen a guy turn himself into a snake. ...You know, aesthetically.
