I finished it, wow. viewed as a whole, probably the best tv show I've ever seen. going to miss the whole crew, but I'm glad it went out with a complete thought and didn't drag out into a mess.
ol "mcnutty". so great and so flawed.

the series didn't overstay its welcome and had a deeply satisfying conclusion, but i can't say i was a fan of how mcnulty was handled through much of the last season

yeah, I really couldn't get behind it until lester came on board. I was pretty much more with bunk on the whole thing, though I think they were trying to do with mculty what they did with bunny in season 3. having a crazy plan and what not. still, I think it worked in season 3, but came really close to collapsing in 5.
Though as they got further into the serial killer it was hard not to see that they were mocking how common that arc is on other crime shows, and yet how really crazy rare that would be in real life.

Omar went out like a punk, yet Marlo is still alive.

death could (and did) come from anywhere at any time. omar's death felt more natural as a result

which makes it feel all that more real and angry. far less CSI and way more French Connection.
