Description
This is Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games book by Suzanne Collins.I heard this book is going to be made into a movie so I read it to see what the appeal is. Pretty interesting concept for book one where 2 kids from 13 district comes together for a yearly event called the Hunger Games. Last person(s) standing wins.
I can see the appeal... there are lot of actions, strong female lead, and budding romance... pretty much all the ingredient for a hit book to translate into a movie, like the Twilight books.
If you read it, what do you think of the story?

yes, it may have the typical love triangle trope like TWILIGHT saga, but please don't compare something like HUNGER GAMES to THAT

I love the hunger games Katniss looks right here like she did in the book, black hair back in a braid and from what I can tell grey eyes and in the movie she has blue eyes and brown hair! I dont know why they did that.

Actually, it's 12 districts (or is it? DUNDUNDUN) Don't want to sound like a jerk, just saying. Very good picture though, I hate how everyone makes her out to be stunningly pretty. You did a really good job portraying her character.

It defies the point of her character- and character development. She never used her looks as a weapon. It was always her mind and her heart. Sure, she might of looked beautiful when Cinna dressed her up, but appearance was never a great trait of hers.

I understand, however she can be attractive without that being a main part of who she is. Being pretty does not take away from her mind or heart.

Yes, I agree with that 100%, but being plain has always been a defining characteristic of who Katniss is. She's not special on the outside, but she's got this amazing soul within, and it's nice to have another Heroine who's hair isn't a 'tumble of red curls with streaks of golden trailing through it like shooting stars' or eyes that are 'pools the color of the deepest part of the arctic sea'. Once again, how I phrased it originally wasn't the best way to do so, but I feel that showing how Katniss never relied on looks shows what a survivor she is. Everything she did manifested from a strength and beauty within her

I don't see the comparsion with Twilight (which I personally dislike), but I think that's because this story focuses on the wider story (the Games, the social unrest, etc) as much as the romance, so the romantic drama doesn't swamp it. And there are so many twists and turns! I only started reading a few weeks ago because my friend lended me the books, but I'm enjoying it so much. I'm excited to go see the film.
As for this art, I love it! I love the colouring, and the deadly look of concentration Katniss has on her face. A true hunter. XD

One of my favourite book series and definitely my favourite series in the dystopian genre. I didn't give it a shot until a few weeks before the third book was released and was sorry that I waited three years to try it. Lots of action, the author does not dumb down the violence and darkness of the story setting and world even though this is a young adult novel and am grateful for it. I recommend it to anyone looking for a great read.
