This man was a god amongst mortals. Why, you ask?
Reason 1) He programmed Pokemon Stadium's battle system from scratch in 1 week.
Reason 2) He was responsible for Kanto being playable in Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal. During production of the games in question, Game Freak was worried that they were running out of room, that this full-sized second area of the game wouldn't fit in the space provided on the Game Boy cartridge. But Iwata came up with a compression algorithm that bought the team the digital real estate they needed. And that wasn't even his job.

He was a member of Britain's Special Operations Executive, the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. It's Ian Fleming's inspiration for James Bond. He can speak a number of languages. Heck, the guy managed to land the role of Fu Manchu because he could speak Chinese. He has more than 260 films under your belt, a Guinness World Record for Tallest Leading Actor and proficiency in seven languages, not to mention a freaking knighthood, Christopher Lee's greatest real-life accomplishment is probably the metal album featuring himself as his great-great-ancestor Charlemagne ... which he recorded at age 87. He was appointed a Commander of the Venerable Order of Saints John in 1997, and a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2001. And there's more honours, too many to list even.

The Wii was something built on the cheap. While I commend him for trying to show that motion controls can be fun, the Wii didn't quite prove that. It could of had the best version of Bioshock, Borderlands, and various other games too, but because they built it with 6th-gen tech, that never happened. Then there's the fact that motion controls were required for development. That is where forcing an add-on on their customers started. They didn't treat motion controls as just a nice add-on. And don't even try to say something like "but it still sold the best" because what if Microsoft had released the Xbox 360 after the Wii? You really think it would have sold so well then?
I believe in respect for the dead, but don't gloss over the negative bits.

Except what you've said is disrespectful at this time. Yes, people will know the negatives of a person. But when someone recently died, people want to remember the good things first. While they're still grieving. It's not that they're ignoring the negatives or completely not counting their existence. But just for now, it's the good things that will stand out and be more mentioned.
I know you have a right to your opinions, but so do the people here who are choosing to pick out the positive instead of the negatives.
I suggest you should be a little more tactful in the future. (And possibly do not pick a tribute picture to say bad things about a person who died.)

no i don't mean to but it is not a complete negative, as he even said himself, with the policy of trying to tackle the unchalenged 'blue ocean' i think he called it, there will be failures, but it stilled drove gaming forward, exploring new grounds, i never ignore failures or weakness, they are character design Iwata is all the more great of a man to let failures not stop him.
but we gamers and fans of Iwata are grieving and it is fairly normal to highlight the positive, and try for the moment to ignore the negative.

You just ignored the failures and/or weaknesses previously. If you truly want to honor him you will accept everything: the good, the bad, and the worst. Besides, either way, the guy's going to be more fondly remembered than Bill Cosby.

and you are being rather rude, I ignored them as they were not in the front of my mind, and i was remembering fonder moment which as I stated is normal for those grieving. it is generally normal and good thing when you can look on the dead and see the success only, like most can look to Tomas Edison, to Albert Einstein, and only see their successes and markers of fame, and look over their falling, their failures, to the things that their success led too. what makes Iwata different?

Can you even back up "most" on Thomas Edison? Most I've seen have given him crap for the crap he's done. Heck, I heard that the reason we pay for electricity is because Thomas got to it before Nikola Tesla, who was working on free electricity.

it was the point, it is only recently he has been remembered less than fondly, but when i was in school, he was treated as an other grand inventor. Tesla and Edison were rival who both committed atrocities withe the others machines/idea/discoveries in order to prove themselves the better option, neither are saints.

The point is the dead are remembered for their greatest deeds good or bad, even more notorious people have good points, Genghis khan created an empire that was large, maintained the peace and provide safe trade routes, Prince Charles, wheither you see him good or bad, is key to keeping the Scottish pride in their heritage despite his outstanding failure.
to confront those remembering the dead fondly in a tribute is highly rude, and uncalled for. no man is perfect, me, you, Christopher Lee, Iwata, Tesla, and surely not Edison.
