Hello Deviants!
Apparently, there is recent controversy over Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP). I've only skimmed over some articles, but it appears to further handicap our freedoms. *Sigh* When will this nightmare end?
Here's a few articles that might be worth a look:

Is there any forum speaking about ACTA on Deviant ?
Plus, I think there isn't enough people knowing about the ACTA existence. My colleague haven't hear anything about it !!!
Talk about it with ALL your relative -- family, friends, neighbours, guests, colleagues, workmates, customers...
Everybody MUST know what is ACTA, and its impacts -- ALL of them, not only about internet (authors' rights whom are NOT copyright, whom are DIFFERENT from copyright, but even about medical search against patents, copyright vs satirical cartoons and then freedom of expression...).
Please, do your best before it'd be too late... Free your expression ! :cheerful: Shield your rights and your lives ! :noble:

"Is there any forum speaking about ACTA on Deviant?"
I'm still fairly new to the community, so I'm not sure. But if you find one, let me know!
"My colleague haven't hear anything about it !!!"
No kidding? Same here! Doesn't anyone watch/read the news anymore? LOL
But, yes, it is very essential to get the word out. It's a huge step in the wrong direction.

This is not going to end well... WHy are they picking on the internet? Just... Why? I don't understand why the governments think that they can control sometihng that crosses all borders.

Either they (the government) are vastly superior in intelligence than the rest of us (cuz I don't understand their intentions either) or they are bigger idiots than we all thought and quite possibly insane.
I'll choose to believe the latter.
Occasionally, we elect a few decent fellows, but as a whole, the government is blatantly ignorant of the people's wants. And corrupt.

The government represents no one, but themselves. ACTA was kept as a secret until it leaked (in Oct I believe). Secrets break trust.
Which brings me to my next point. If SOPA and PIPA were created to stop piracy in foreign countries, and Megaupload (a foreign site) was shut down without said SOPA/PIPA, did they really need those bills? Or did they pass them secretly without our knowledge? Something's fishy.
Speaking of which, does anyone know when ACTA will go into effect (assuming the government ignores our protests)?

I've had that same feeling for a long time now, before this even came up... And then once SOPA/PIPA/ACTA came up, I knew it meant what I'd feared would come.

I always knew their was corruption within the government, but I never wanted to believe it would get this bad. At this point, it's impossible to ignore the problem.
Somethings gotta give.

Which isn't strictly a bad thing.
A mildly to moderately corrupt government with a complacent populace isn't necesarily better than a moderately to highly corrupt government with a kickass populace.
At least in the latter case, there's hope for reform.
... and BOY HOWDY is there hope ^_^.
