Chapter 3
“You’re…you’re my aunt and uncle?” said Kio with sadness and confusion in her voice.

“Yes. We’re very sorry that you had to find out like this.” said Karin.

Kio just took in the shocking news as if it was nothing special. “So do you know anything more about me and my past?”

“No. We don’t.” said Senji.

“Are you sure? Don’t lie to me.”

“Yes we are.”

“Thanks Mom—I mean Aunt Karin and Uncle Senji.”

“It’s alright. I hope you forgive us.” said Senji.

“I already have.”

After the conversation, Kio went to look for Daichi. When she found him, he was talking with a group of other teen vampires.

“Daichi, can I speak to you for a moment. In private.” said Kio.

“Hey Daichi, who’s this very beautiful young lady here.” said one of the guys. He was about the same height as Daichi and had cerulean eyes. He had medium-short jet black hair, which was, jelled straight back, light but fair skin, and had a bit of a moustache growing. His eyes were so seductive that almost every girl fell for him claiming that “he was the one.” His suit was in full black with a crimson red tie.

“Kio, this is Naoki Makoto. He also goes to our school.” said Daichi.

“Oh. So this is Kio. I never imagined you would be so beautiful.” said Naoki as he took Kio’s hand and kissed the back of it.

“And is Naoki Makoto your real name?” asked Kio.

“Yes it is. My disguise name is Eisaku Reikuto.”

“So. I’m guessing that you’re the son of Mrs. Makoto?” asked Kio.

“Yes. Have you met her yet?”

“Yes. She came up to Daichi and I. Why haven’t I seen you at school though?”

“Because I didn’t come today. But I shall be there tomorrow.”

“I see.”

“We should talk more some time Kio. You seem really interesting. Well, I must get going now.” said Naoki as he kissed Kio on her cheek and secretly slipped a piece of paper in her hand before walking off.

“Seems like someone’s interested in you.” said one of the girls. She was slender and very beautiful. Her hair was jet black with chunky crimson highlights and was in a long, low-layered cut that was spiral curled at the ends. She looked like she was about 5 feet 7 inches without the heels and she had dark turquoise eyes. She was wearing a chocolate brown halter dress that stopped right above her knees and it also had a beaded neckline. Her high heel sandals were also in chocolate brown and her jewelry were in diamonds.

“I don’t think he is.” said Kio turning her head behind her to look at Naoki.

“Oh, I almost forgot. My name is Akane Kitomi.”

“That’s a really cute name. So do you go to our school as well?”

“Yea. I’m in the same homeroom as you. I sit at the back as well.”

“Oh. I never noticed you before.”

“You don’t notice anyone. You’re just to yourself. That’s all.”

“Sorry for not noticing you though. I’ll make sure to talk to you tomorrow.”

“It’s alright. Anyways, I have to go meet with my parents now. I should be leaving soon.”

Daichi, Kio and the rest of the teenagers said goodbye to Akane. “Oh by the way Akane, what’s your disguise name?” asked Kio.

“It’s Nene Serino.”

“Daichi, I’m going to go upstairs for a moment. I’ll be back.” said Kio.

“Well I’m coming with you then.”

Kio rolled her eyes as she said, “Fine.”

They went upstairs and found their way to the bathroom. “I’ll wait here outside for you.” said Daichi as he leaned against the wall, standing beside the door.

Kio locked the door behind her and went to the sink and just stared at herself in the mirror. “I wonder what my real parents look like. Are they still alive? Do they even know that I’m still alive?” thought Kio. She had so many questions in her head that she didn’t even know the answer to. She just stayed in the bathroom for another 10 minutes until Daichi knocked on the door. “Kio, are you ok?”

“Yea. I’ll be out soon.” She then slowly unlocked the door, hoping that Daichi would come inside so that they could be alone…

Daichi then burst open the door and saw Kio sitting on top of the toilet seat. “Are you ok?” asked Daichi.

“Yes. I just hoped that I would learn more about myself and my parents tonight.”

“It’s alright. You’ll eventually find out more when the time comes.”

“Daichi…”

“Yes.”

“Do you know anything else about my real parents?”

“No. I’m not sure anyways.”

“Well, can you promise me something?”

“What would that be?”

“Can you promise me that if you found out anything relating to me or my parents, that I would be the first one you tell?”

“I promise. Now, let’s go back downstairs. If you keep crying like that, you’re going to ruin your makeup.” said Daichi as he got a piece of tissue and wet it so that he could wipe the smudges of eyeliner and mascara around Kio’s eyes. As he was wiping off the smudged makeup, Kio put her hands to his face and leaned in closer. She suddenly kissed him and Daichi had a shocked look on his face. He never expected this to happen.

“Sor…sorry. I just acted on impulse…” said Kio.

“It’s…it’s alright…” said Daichi. He then grabbed her face and returned the kiss but passionately.

“Dai…Daichi…what was that?”

“I was returning the kiss. Now, let’s go downstairs. It might be time for you to leave soon.”

Kio and Daichi then left the bathroom and went back downstairs. Kio still couldn’t get that image out of her mind. She too never expected Daichi to kiss her back. She never thought she would kiss him either. Once they reached downstairs, Naoki came back to say goodbye.

“My Kio. I have to go now but I do hope that I see you at school tomorrow.” said Naoki as he kissed her on the cheek again. “Don’t forget to call me.” he said as he walked off. Kio was wondering what he was talking about until she remembered him slipping a piece of paper into her hand earlier. She checked inside her bra to see if she put the paper there, which she did. “So…that’s what he meant…” she thought. Then, Karin and Senji came up to her.

“Kio, it’s time for us to go now.” said Karin.

“Yes Aunt Karin. Coming.”

Kio then turned to Daichi and hugged him. “Thanks for everything so far. You’re a great friend—or should I say acquaintance.”

“No problem. But I think I’d prefer friend. See you at school tomorrow.”

“Alright then. Bye.”

“Bye.”

Next Day: La Salle Academy
“KIO!!” shouted Naoki as he ran into the garden where Kio was sitting.

“Hey Naoki—I mean Eisaku.”

“Oh that’s alright. When it’s just us vampires, you can call me Naoki. But when we’re in public among the humans, don’t forget to call me Eisaku.”

“Oh ok. Awesome.”

“So how are you holding up? I heard what happened last night.”

“About what…”

“About you and your uncle and aunt.”

“Oh. That. Yea I’m good. Getting kind of hard calling them Aunt and Uncle though.”

“Oh I see. Don’t worry. You’ll get use to it soon.” he said as he smiled. He had a very charming yet sweet smile. Kio was starting to get drawn to him until that image of her and Daichi appeared in her mind again. Suddenly, the school bell rang to let the students know that it was time for their first class.

“I’m…I’m sorry Naoki but I have to get to class and—“ but she was cut off by Naoki kissing her quite passionately. He stopped and said, “That’s my goodbye to you. See you later.” Then he walked off.

“Whoa…two guys kissing me in just two days?! What the hell?! I couldn’t tell Daichi about this! He’d probably kill Naoki! But still…Daichi was a very wonderful kisser…” thought Kio as she put her fingers to her lips. She then realized that she would be late for class and ran to her homeroom.

Lunch time: La Salle Academy – The Garden
“Hey Kio. What’s up?” said Daichi as he approached her. Kio suddenly turned her face the other way to avoid eye contact with him.

“Kio, what’s the problem? Did I do something?”

Kio then bent her knees up to her face and put her head between her knees as she shook her head.

“Hey. Your head can’t talk you know.”

She looked up at him and only tears ran down her face. Daichi quickly went to her side and hugged her tightly. “What happened?”

“Na…Naoki kissed me today…in the garden…passionately…” she said sniffing through her tears.

“I see…Well that doesn’t matter to me.”

“WHAT?!? THAT DOESN’T MATTER TO YOU!!!”

“Of course not. I mean…why would it?”

“Because we kissed last night!!”

Then, at that sudden moment, Daichi kissed Kio again but it was a bit longer than last night. “There. I’ve gotten rid of Naoki’s kiss on your precious lips. You happy now?” said Daichi. Kio nodded as her cheeks turned to a deep rosy pink. “Thank you.” said Kio.

“No problem. Now, let’s get back to class. I think the bell should be ringing soon.”

“Alright.” Kio got up and was holding tightly onto Daichi’s hand. Before they got out of the garden, Kio suddenly felt that impulse again. Her urge to drink more blood. She stopped and started hyperventilating again, holding onto her chest. Daichi realize what she needed and he offered his blood to her.

“I hope one day you find a female vampire that you’ll be able to please in every way.” Said Kio.

“Stop being such a perve.” said Daichi.

“I’m not. And I hope that you’ll love and care for her with all your heart.”

“Well, maybe I’ve found that girl already…”

“Senji! We have to tell her someday!” shouted Karin.

“We can’t and we won’t! She’ll have to find out on her own!” shouted Senji.

“But I care about her! I don’t want to lose her knowing that we lied to her again!”

“Karin. I’m sorry but we just can’t do it. She’s going to have to find out herself.”

“Well…if we lose her…I don’t know what I’m going to do…”

“Don’t worry.”

“But how can we go about our daily lives knowing ‘that’!!”

“It’ll be alright. In time, Kio will find out.”
