Honestly, I get really pissed off when people make ashfur all emo, and hate Squirrelflight when all she did was say 'I don't love you.'

I love both Squirrelflight and Ashfur. I also enjoy Bramblestar.
I just found Squirrelpaw really annoying in Midnight because of the way she acted due to being very young~!

I adore Squirrelflight. She is my favorite character in the whole series, if not any book. I love her personality, and her moments of humanity. I can relate to her very much. Ashfur, however, is another story. At first I liked him. And then he tried to kill Firestar. I feel as though his character went in a downward spiral after that. He fought with Lionblaze when he was supposed to teach him, and went as far as to try to murder three innocent cats for petty revenge so he could sleep better. And he got into StarClan because he only 'loved to much'. Yeah, none of that seems like love to me, idiots. When he died, I was happy. *waits for hate*

I hated Squirrelflight when she was an apprentice. She was just annoying and bratty. After she came back from the journey, she was much more mature and I started to like her a little. I have respect for the character, but I still don't particularly like her. I always loved Ashfur. I hate that Erin Hunter had to throw away his personality for something so stupid. I hate Ashfur fans who try to give him excuses. I love him and all, but there are no excuses for what he did, or tried to do. They say he loved too much, but obviously not enough. Maybe he did go a bit insane, but that still isn't an excuse. I think the reason people like Ashfur more than Squirrelflight is because they think that she used him to make Brambleclaw jealous. In reality, she didn't. They were good friends and they could've stayed that way if Ashfur didn't feel like he needed to take revenge.

i agree, ashfur and his fans got a bit out of hand, it's ok to like a character, but it's not ok to make stuff up about another character. it's actually not in squirrelflight's personality to use someone as stated by erin hunter, squirrelflight is to straight forward to ever do that.

Exactly. More fans need to look at the facts instead of making excuses and trying to shove them down other people's throat.

When I was younger, an old acquaintance of mine introduced me to Warriors and gave Squirrelflight such a bad wrap that I didn't like her either. But as I actually read the books and thought more about her character, she grew on me, and I realized that it was stupid to hate a character just because she dumped that person's favourite character. Besides, there have been guys I've dated only to realize that I didn't really care for them in a romantic way, so we broke it off - that's the better thing to do.

same thing happened to me once, i dated this boy, but i realized i didn't like him in THAT way. it's normal, especially when your at that age were you're still figuring things out about yourself

kat-ozkosar In reply to puppyhowler [2015-01-28 07:25:33 +0000 UTC]
Exactly. And it wasn't like she was seeing him just to see him, either - she found comfort in his company, but over time she began to realize that she didn't truly /love/ him. Like when Leafpool and Crowfeather ran off, she thought about whether or not she could do that for Ashfur and realized that she wouldn't, but when she considered Brambleclaw she felt differently. It was a process over time.
She really needs more credit, I think...

Ashfur never respected her for shit. I am pretty sure that burning your children alive doesn't mean respect. It just means that he's an asshole who threw a huge tantrum. The moment she offered friendship, he threw a tantrum and judged Bramble, causing a huge hissy fit and making her feel like shit. That ain't respect. That's just a guy who never really grew up.

ummm, squirrelflight and ashfur were never in an actual relationship, they were just friends, i don't get why people think that. though she knew ashfur liked her, she just wanted to be friends with him, and asfur freaking exploded at her because of that. and besides i didn't see any respect from ashfur, he just wanted her booty, that's why he flipped out at her for "leaving him". he went by the logic of "SHE WAS NICE TO ME SO SHE OWES ME A RELATIONSHIP AND THE V!"

thee-real-doge In reply to puppyhowler [2015-01-19 02:38:48 +0000 UTC]
Um, still, maybe she should of made it more clear that they where just friends. And cats don't just want " booty" because they are cats, and they do not check out the butts. So no logic there...

puppyhowler In reply to thee-real-doge [2015-01-19 02:46:00 +0000 UTC]
she did make it clear! she told him she only wanted to be friends!
and that part about ashfur wanting "booty" was an expression, what i meant was, he only wanted to be in a relationship with her, nothing else.
and if he was respectful towards squirrelflight then he would have just excepted her decision, instead of TRYING TO STRANGLE HER FATHER AND BURN HER "CHILDREN" ALIVE HAVING HER REVEAL A SECRET THAT WOULD RUIN THUNDERCLAN"S REPUTATION

i didn't find it funny, i found it incredibly butthurt and stupid, i really don't think he should have gone to starclan either. that was just horrid writing and fan-service, because he didn't "love too much", if he loved squirrelflight, he would have excepted her choice with dignity and not acted like a spoiled brat.
i personally like hollyleaf, she's one of my favorite characters

I hate hollyleaf more than I do any other cat. She was such a hypocrite. She killed ashfur because he " was gonna tell the truth" then told it it herself. And if the truth " was all that mattered" she should have let him say it. At least he wouldn't make two clans look bad. And if " the warrior code" meant anything to her she wouldn't have ran like a pussy from her clan, after killing, for no good reason, a clanmate. If the truth was all that mattered she should of stepped up, and told firestar what she did.

puppyhowler In reply to thee-real-doge [2015-01-19 04:35:00 +0000 UTC]
ok story time!
hollyleaf killed ashfur because he was going to hurt squirrelflight and the clan, she had NO idea who her parents were by the time she killed him. then yellowfang told jayfeather that crowfeather was their father, hollyleaf denied it, but leafpool confirmed it. and that crushed hollyleaf, because the warrior code meant EVERYTHING to her, then she found out her very EXISTENCE was against the code. she told the clans about their birth parents because she felt it would punish leafpool. she ran away because she felt no one would understand why she did what she did (and in a way she was right), not because she's a "pussy".
here, this video will better explain what happen: www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLfwd3…

Hollyleaf was still an idiot in ny eyes.
If she was going to leave her clan she
Should have stayed gone. She should have
Never gone crawling back.
That, and her character way overpowering. She killed ashfur, almost killed sol, and was really " strong" and " saved" her clan when the dark forest attacked. Mm no. The dark forest was way out numbered. They would of lost with or without her help. Dove wing could not die, she was part of a great prophecy. Dove wing herself is over powered. In fact, jayfeather was the only one who wasn't, because all he could do was see other cats dreams, not hear everything or what not. And hollyleaf over reacted majorly. If she wanted to still follow she could have. She never had to kill ashfur. She never had to leave. She never had to tell anyone what happened. It would of all worked out for her in the end.

hollyleaf wasn't apart of the prophecy, they made that very clear in the books. yes she did kill ashfur, that doesn't make a character overpowered, if that's the case then scourge is a MAJOR mary sue, as well as tigerstar.

Most of erin hunters characters are Mary sues.
