This is my competition entry for *gracefromGod 's competition to find something that has inspired you and express it.

This took me aaaages to decide.

I chose this as my inspiration because throughout the past 2 years in my photography (school) i have been looking at how things are not what they seem/beautiful things made of ugly things. And i thought, as it is enough to inspire me for 2 years now and helped me create wonderful images for my course, i thought i would find a photo that would express it as i do find it inspiring.

Firstly, i like difference. If everything was the same there actually wouldn't be any joy in the world, i'm a stong believer in that it's good to be different and different is wonderful, so i took this image of the mountain cornflower form a different perspective than the usual ones i have see as i think it shows the flower to be insect like but still an interesting photo. Which leads me nicely onto how i love it when things look like other things, i like to think of images/drawing/sculptures like this similies for the eye :] i used to really love descriptive writing and english, i still do but now i realise i don't have to just write it i can show people what i mean via photos which i find far more eye catching than chunks of writing (sorryy for the irony).

I would also like to mention how i love finding the beauty in things, i try and do it when ever i can through lighting and when doing people at unexpected times so the result is better, more genuine. Also throughout my GCSE/AS work, i also have enjoyed pointing out the flaws in society, usually i tackled sexism and creulty to animals, edgy things that no one else i know would try. I have also however looked at pointing out imperfections, i know that sounds aweful but for example in my AS work i pointed out the problems with movies nowdays where all the leading male evil figures are identifiable but there are no real female villains and although there is claimed equality it doesn;t show through in the movies, heck girls can be just as evil, so as i do enjoy a good dress up, i made myself in 5 recognisable male figures and inverted them to females to show that they were just as recogniseable and not lame.
Back to the image, even though the moutain cornflower is an impressive flower it does kind of look like a spider arachnid thing in this photo which shows a sort of hidden side. I got the idea of looking into that after my sister told me that the pretty yellow flowers i had taken photos of were poisonous but soo beautiful so that inspired me to show in a more literal way not to judge a book by its cover however i did not manipulate this image i just took it from an angle where i knew that it would seem less glamourous.

Reaallllyyy sorry for the essay but there really is alot more thought that has been put into this image that most people can tell so i just wanted to explain that. If you're still awake after that essay, i hope you like the photo, one of my favourites so far
