Striving to make myself happy with my art, revisiting this digital picture of the Demon King Chestra from the manga series, the Violinist of Hameln.-------------------------------------------------------

Lately I've been beating myself up something fierce, hating everything in my gallery, hating everything I do. A huge artistic and creative block has been makign me miserable.
I had a plan, though, that perhaps I should revisit some of my older works and you know, actually try to fix some of their problems. Not all, but the worst of them.
This one was particularly hard because I had used a canvas like texture on it.
I like the face much better now, but I am too lazy to really work on the hair, so I consider it mostly done now.
Chestra is Hamel's father, so yes, this is a man! I was just as shocked as you when I first read the series. First time I looked at that vol, just skimming through it, I went "Who is that woman living with pandora?"

You have an amazing talent! This actually does remind me of royalty; the true kind. Instead of the common royal rulers of the castle, you know, such as the kings and queens, she actually looks powerful. (In a ruling-the-castle-and-the-land sort of way).
The horns remind me of Malificent from Sleeping Beauty and her hair style reminds me of Arora's hair style. A combination of the two!
Well, at one time I want to say this and another time I don't think it's a good idea... anyways, this is a magnificent piece. Please, keep up the great work!

i like the richer colors for the armor and the skin tone looks maybe a tad too grey, and i think you could lighten the hair a bit more, but it's a lot more 'real' than the first one was! ^_^ very nice image!

I think you've got the golden touch when it comes to digital artwork! The detail is incredible. You make it look so easy and I'm sure it isn't. Beautiful work. My hat's off to you.

When I get down on my artistic "flow" and get all blocked up and whatever, I tend to look over alot of the things that were a big insperation to me when I started drawing, or maybe re-draw some older stuff now that I have more exp. in it. Listening to the music I listened too as I took my artistic baby steps helps me overcome alot of my blocks. Anyway, I hope you find a way out of it, as I (along with I'm sure most of DA) enjoy your peices and look forward to your new works.

IMO, you're growing as an artist. It's obvious in your work. That and determination are all that you need to reach the sky, so keep drawing!

I love the change in the face and the button, and the lighting on the chalice, but I like the brightness of the metal better in the old version. The color made the metal look more real there than in this one, but the lighting in this one looks more real than in that one. He certainly looks more like a he here though! Kudos! ^_^

the update really shows your progression, if anything I'd say add a matted frame around the same color as the goblet (the faded gold and ruby mix work well together)

I think the lineart is much better from the original, but the contrast seems dim... I think it needs some 'flares' or bright spots to accent the dark hues more.
