Dali esk! And I love Dali. Talk about abstract art, and on top of everything else the colors and the details really make this picture special! Wicked cool....

the cliuds are way to overwhelming and the figure is too dark...
i would have chosen one or the other, properly expose the clouds so they arent so bright, or properly exposed the figure so that you could make out some detail...
everything about the exposure seems off... i mean the only part that is properly exposed is the grass which is the weakest part of the shot, i mean the cloud formations could be the focus of the shot(if only they were properly exposed) the figure could be the focus of your shot(if only it were properly exposed)... the grass is just plain and boring and has no real focus to it...
the idea isnt even very original either, i mean how trite is it to stand a person on some hay and call it high hopes...
there is no real exceptional part about this piece and i am not seeing what the whole rave about it is...

...i love random umbrellas...it reminds me of some neo-victorian whimsical fantasy that might have been. like the smashing pumkins video for "tonight tonight" or the whole vibe of bands like pinkflyod, ayreon and skunkworks.
hmmmm very cool pic. reminds me of monet's haystacks. while i do love the color, a sepia toned pic that been maniped to be all grainy would rock too...
yeah the atmosphere on this really gets me! what can i say +fav!

too much contrast in my opinion.
You can't see any details of the sky because its too light and you can't see the details of the dark spaces because they're too dark.
nice concept... but I don't see why its the daily favorite.

well this is all a bit too positive... its decent, but oversaturated and the umbrella colors are the exact opposite of what you need. just thoguht you could use some helpful criticism.

Damn Rodnery Smith style is becoming popular around here... or people just want to copy a fellow deviants work...
In either case, this is just to closely related to others work thats been done.

I like the idea. I dont like how its overexposured and im not too happy with your composition - I think a crop on the bottom would help the image alot.

this picture is simply beautiful. i don't think that you have any technical problems cause it catches my i very well. from the aesthetically point: yes it could be done better. but i don't think that this shot would be improved by more contrast there and there... my interpretation is of cause just an artistic view (just look at my pics they are poor of technical quality). i think it's the right way your head decided to take this pic. the sky with its natural wide athmosphere couldn't be used better as background. the umbrella since the '20 a sign of higher social standard couldn't be used better as a vision. a vision of a beautiful world. the tension between nature the blue sky and this thing in the hand of this man is great. he use the nature to look widely. the horizon take care that he don't look too far as he can see his future. if you want god to start laughing...just tell him about your plans. no bonmot suits better.

Yes, you've got a great idea here, but i have to say that the execution leaves much to be desired. The first prob is with the coloring. Toooo much contrast... youve lost all the details. Whether or not this was intentional, who knows? Second, the composition could be improved if you had knelt down a bit more so that the top of the hay was above the treeline. This would have prevented the figures legs from disappearing in the trees and would have given the figure a much larger sense of scale.
Anyway, a really great start, hope you get to make it better...

looks like a bit of coloring is messed up around the umbrella....i would have preferred a black, white, or green umbrella (solid) to match the scene...or the whole thing in black and white.... look at ~naplajoie 's stuff, he does very good and professional versions of scenes like these.

Pretty neat shot. I think what really makes this shot "good" and not just "neat" is the contrast.. it's really dark and eerie, and the sky adds to that. I also like the sort of layers in the shot... light green grass, dark forest, then the sky.
Good job
