Great pic, the detail is really good, the contrast is just spiffing, and there's a great atmosphere ^-^

This made me so sad. I've been to zoos, even some alright ones, and they make me so, so tired of everything, like I just want to sit there and let them out, one by one. Animals are gorgeous, aware beings, and they deserve to be treated that way. You've captured the emotion behind that almost-human face in a way that no one can mistake for something else.

You know what that honestly makes me think about? It makes me think about how quite a few people think animals are heartless and soulless creatures that kill. And you simply prove that animals have as much emotions as humans.

Fantastic photograph. Without sight of its eyes that changes this photo into a different perspective. Makes you think what they will be like, makes you think what the Chimp is thinking, forces you into it's place. As does the tight crop and the tones and monochrome quality to the image doesn't leave anything else to even momentarily distract the viewer from the empathy towards the ape.
Very well done.

Wow, so emotive...
I'm going to make my little rant is small text because it's probably really boring... ^__^
I just arrived home from a Voiceless (fund for animals) lecture at Sydney Uni, about animal law. The main drive of the event was to encourage lawyers to take up animal law, as in law animals are still counted as "property" and not as sentient beings. Animal law is one huge gray area in 'justice' systems worldwide. Law and scholarship is one frontier of the fight for animal rights, but you know, I believe the role of the artist is even more powerful.
Photographs like this move people to compassion, they move people to see beyond what has become accepted. They engage a part of humanity that has become hardened and repressed. They make us feel, they connect us to our world. I don't know, but is there anything more important that that...
Um, sorry for the rant.
Beautiful photograph, love the crop, and as has been mentioned, spot on focus.

Thats an awesome shot. Although looking at the thumb i was expecting to see some eyes, I think that would've made it just...way bomber, but its still pretty bomb just like this. lol Sweet shot. And RyanTheriault is right, that title totally adds to this shot.

All eyes on me, in the center of the ring (just like a circus) when I crack that whip, everybody gonna trip (just like a circus) Dont stand there watching me, follow me, show me what you can do. Everybody let go, we can make a dance floor (just like a circus)
