I found these guys in one of my old sketchbooks, and I thought they were a couple of the best dragons I've ever drawn. So I gave them a major anatomy overhaul. I even created a story for themThe two young dragons are from two different clans who are at war with each other. Amidst the protests of their parents and elders, the two young lovers sneak out at every possible moment to be in each other's company.
(male is on the left, female on the right)
I'm actually planning to one day draw a (real) background and color this traditionally. I don't know when that will be though-I still have that huge pastel project I need to finish *groan* so it could be a while-but I'm happy with how these two came out.
Oh and just a side comment: I HATE drawing dragon wings, HATE IT!! lol that's the main reason why most of my dragon pics remain unfinished or the dragons are wingless. But I'm very happy how these wings came out-though it took me hours (amidst much swearing lol)

a very nice depiction... and it really would give this pic justice if you added a bakground... ubt if you ever decide to redo this I suggest making the two dragons maybe interact a little more to further enhance the fealings they have... as for dragon wings... I know how difficult it is to draw them... so I don't blame you for hating them... it's even more of a pain trying to figure out how it would be more anatomically viable to conect the wings and the front paws to a dragon... now htat is anoying...
ANyways... ncie job and please do more dragons...

Yeah, I'm working on some other stuff right now, but I do plan to make them the centerpiece of a full blown piece. And I'll experiment with them interacting a little more. I tried to make it look like they were in love, but at the same time I wanted them to have more of an animal-like look, if you know what I mean, lol.
and yeah, wings suck, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that hehe.
I'll be sure to look at your gallery. I have seen it before - you have really awesome stuff

amn... I don't think that wings suck... what sucks are my atempts at drawing them properly... the wings are the one thing I love the most about the dragons... it makes them so different from any other beying... I LOVE wings... I 'm just not good at drawing them.
I too had a similar atempt at a pic of two dragons in love whille wanting to make them still be a bit more on the animal side... but still giving them that very improtant spark of inteligance. I tryed that in my "the gift" pic...

And yeah, that's what I meant. I love dragon wings, but hate drawing them because I can never get them to look right. I guess it would help to study bat wing anatomy.

hehe, well there's not exactly a whole lot of real dragons flying around to study. But that's why they're fun too, because pretty much anything is possible - but it's always a good idea to get the anatomy to look like the creature might exist.
