reason 1.Bases are like character making games, you get the empty shell and draw on it.
reason 2.If you don`t do the linework,you never learn
reason 3.People who use bases arent really making their own art, its cheating at art. its just filling and adding line tool and fill tools to make it look a bit different.

But how is using A base cheating at art?
Yes after A while you should try and do it yourself.
But theres nothing wrong with bases.
Bases can actually help you learn.
And theres no suck thing as "Cheating at art"
Unless you steal someone else's art and claim it as your own.
So just leave the person alone.
They. Did. Nothing. Wrong.

I completely agree with LavaDoctor , bases can make a person practice how certain line art works, and can help the person develop a specific style that they want to pursue.
You SomeBandanaGuy , have no right to say that doing the linework will never make a person learn because me, from personal experience, have developed my artwork using bases. In addition, they are making their own art because the design and concept that is placed on that base is their own, yes this particular drawing already has characters that are frequently used but the design behind it, such as what they're wearing, speech, etc. is all that of the artists- so do not accuse people of cheating just because they use bases to practice their own work!
