This, Took, FOREVER.Well, I didn't spend as long on it as I could have, maybe five hours of work into this picture...
It's a scene from the WoTRE rp between me and *Corgi-Master Phoenix and Purrl sitting under a tree to hide from the rain.
I CHALLENGED MYSELF WITH THIS PICTURE CAN YOU TELL?
I didn't use the smudge, blur, or dodge and burn tools for the background. AT ALL. it came out well, but it too sooooo much longer than my normal methods of abuse to those tools.
AND THAT TREE.
That tree was death, every little line was one stroke, I was sitting there clicking for at /least/ an hour just on those vines.
But it turned out well, so that's all that matters C8

So who /are/ these characters? I've seen them in your artwork before and was just wondering...well I've seen the one with wings. I think he/she is very neat, and drawn as excellently as the rest of it..and the rest of your art too ^^

The one on the left is Phoenix, and the one on the right is Purrl! Phoenix is one of my favorite OCs, but I seldomly draw him for some reason... and Purrl is my fursona! which is just a word for a character that's supposed to represent myself :3

This has to be the most atmospheric thing in your gallery. I've probably spent an hour looking a t this. The way the rain blends in to the background, but adds to the picture more is nice.

wow, thank you so much! I should try and draw pictures like this more often then! do you think its the scene itself or the technique I used for the background? I'm having a hard time figuring out if its the colors I used or the way I drew the background that makes it so different and unique and have that extra thing that I cannot for the life of me figure out what makes this picture so special.

I'm not sure the more I think it about the more my head hurts. Having colorful purrly and pheonix near the front(in persepective I guess;albeit having drk shading on them that matches the scenery/environment.)and overall the "farther" away evrythin is from them the darker it gets. The rain defainetly looks like rain, but it feels as if it is far away and close at the same time. I think the reason for this is not only perspective, but how it seems to start by the lake, for some reason(for me) looks similar to the lines on the tree's "base". While it doesn't look anywhere near as close as the chars or the tree and its vines; to me it lookslike the rain is close when I focus my attention on the tree. (Also I dunno why, but the vines seem to pop out)
Yet at the same time, the backgrouns seems to work with the rain; if you know what I mean. I honestly think the blend of having bright and dark coloring(mainly dark) blend so smoothly is what tops it all off. I honestly think its a blend of everything and the way you did them. I suppose I could be wrong about some things though; I guess experementation with things could help you?
