Here is my take on a Classics Headmaster Hardhead and Duros. The recipe is listed above for both figures. I chose to deviate from the original color scheme and layout for a few reasons. First, I thought that with such large treads, it would blend in too much with the black. Secondly, the orginal's avocado green had to go. This isn't the 70's, we can update the color to something less obnoxious.

I know that there's a few touch ups that need to be done. Some of it is a little bit of paint wear that's occurred from handling it, the rest is spots I just missed with the base coat.

Overall, I'm happy with the piece. I think it's a good representation of a cool character and a great excuse to turn a meh mold into something better.

Comments and criticisms welcome.

Excellent job. I agree the new color is a lit.. a bit.. A damn sight better.
The modding of a micron for the head unit spectacular.

Thank you. It took awhile to figure out Duros' transformation, but I like it better than slapping a face on the back.

I didn't know these things could be interchangeable. What kind of paint would you use for touch ups?

What "things" are you referring to exactly?
For touchups, I would just use the above paints listed above in the description.

Uh I'm referring to actual body parts of transformers. Looks like you put some of one on others. Okay thanks. I have someone here who wants to do a repaint.

That's what I thought you meant, but I wasn't sure.
I guess you can say any parts are interchangeable but it takes work. Tankor's original forearms were gutted and Energon Landmine's were cut down to size to fit. Landmine's cab was also drastically cut down and put on a swivel to allow rotation. The cannon was also cut off from tankor and adhered to Landmine's by using an epoxy putty.

To do a repaint, always make sure to sand down the joints and any spots that will rub. Not too much, but just enough so paint doesn't come off. Completely dissasemble the figure and give it a bath in hot soapy water. Dry it, then give it a light coat of black spray paint. I use Krylon Fusion flat black. Then, you can dry brush or air brush on paints. Hardhead was painted using the dry brush techniqe and citadel paints by games workshop.

I apologize if you didn't want such a long explanation, but I thought it might help. If you have any other questions, just ask.

Actually your explanation made it much more clear as to what is involved in a repaint and mixing and matching. You did them so well, I figured that it wasn't hard to mix them. I was wrong, wrong, wrong! LOL And as for the tips on repaint, well, I would like to repaint a frenzy into Rumble (Robot hero) but maybe I'll just leave it LOL
