He was so small.. so fragile. Somehow he managed to look even tinier as he laid in the small nest created for him. Precisely 10 forms of flowers rested gently on and around his sleeping frame, oh how small he looked.

He had hardly lived his life before it was taken from him, his death was tragic and told a harsh reality that life isn't meant for the purest of hearts. There he lay, under the mournful gaze of his packmates. Oh how fragile he truely was.

Sunlight dappled the grove where the ceremony was being held as all gathered to pay their last respects to the small wolf. Artemis bowed his head as he stood at the head of the curled up form of Lanis as his frame was dappled with flowers from the wolves of the pack. Artemis himself laid a flower down for the fallen as well despite not knowing the young wolf very well. This was not the time to think on time lost or moments best forgotten. Instead it was a time to honor Lanis as he makes his journey back to the bosom of the Gods with Fryda.

The quiet chatter of the river nearby was the only noise before Artemis drew his head up to finally say something to honor Lanis. “For every wolf who walks the lands of the Asgard, Solaris and Aureris watches over the day and night of their life. But the sunrise and sunsets of life are the reign of Fryda. The time that Fryda comes to guide us back Home is rarely known to us - nor can one predict that such a time would come during a time of bonding such as a group hunt. It is a moment where one can only stand by to watch - and grieve at the farewell.

“We give thanks to Fryda for Lanis’ sunrise. For her guidance to bring him to his true home and for leading him here under so that Solaris and Aureris can shine upon him. We give thanks for the time we were able to share, no matter how brief. And we give thanks to Fryda for bringing Lanis peace during his sunset.

“Everything in the world is ruled by the sunrise and sunset - and we now honor Lanis at the sunset of his life. May Solaris and Aureris always watch over you - and may Fryda always protect you at Home.”

He bowed his head slightly with respect at the end of his words, as the golden colors of the grove began to give way to the blues that came after sunset. Solaris and Aureris were watching as they prepared to give Lanis his last journey home on Fryda’s paws.
