sure, that's fine. it's wrong to expect a female to have no libido,...
nobody should be forced to be a robot like that. it's unhealthy to push that and makes a person twice as perverted and continuously grow more and more perverted as well as emotionally distorted.
besides, I'm sure not all of the fanfiction is smut. maybe she read a birthday story, or shinji finally learned to correctly pole dance, lol.

Only a couple of them are and they are well written that focuses on their duties as pilots and their shared trauma. Most of them are rated T and keep them within character.

also trauma is painful as hell. having a shoulder to lean on is incredibly important for dealing with stuff like that.
asuka was so crushed when Kaji died. so was Misato.
evangelion is easily among the darkest anime of all time. very emotionally crushing stuff at times.
if you look at the child drawn pictures from the evangelion movie it's fascinatingly sad. one child drawn picture was of their house burning to the ground.Β

It is very easy to hate on NGE nowadays, but for those of us who grew up with it and could identity with any one of the cast of characters,it still leaves an impact very few animes can ever accomplish. I also want to add it is the reason why I ship two women and a guy as way back in the early days of the internet,those type of fan fictions were extremely prevalent. Ditto with the fanart,the SFW and NSFW variety.

it was groundbreaking as a whole and added a whole new dimension to how people think about animated works.
kids these days are all into that moe' stuff (which is fine),... but evangelion is a lion among house cats.
people these days get some psychological anime based stuff in doki doki literature club. that's actually quite deep and hard too.

I have heard plenty about Doki Doki Literature Club and the numerous praises it has been getting, but it is not my cup of tea.Β I won't get the reference but sure that sounds like a great idea.
