Etymology:
The last name Mey is a Westernized Chinese surname: the two cultures became comingled as the core planets of the Alliance were formed, one Western in culture and the other Oriental. As a surname, it's roots are taken from the name Matthew, one of the twelve apostles and a tax collector.

Description: Dawson is a general contractor for the Blue Sun corporation. He is in charge of overseeing the construction of warehouses and shipping facilities on the outerworlds - these are suspicious structures erected on the abundant bare land of the rim planets. The civilians are told that their purpose is to provide health care and assistance, although it is doubtful that a citizen has ever seen so much as a dram of antibiotics from any of them - much less the ones overseen by Dawson. In truth, the buildings serve to store the Blue Sun's ever-expanding amount of product, as well as to make distribution and transportation faster and easier by establishing a network of locations throughout the verse. It could also be speculated that it is a part of the Alliance's attempt to have their fingers in even the most distance reaches of the black.

However, Dawson long ago realized that, although the Alliance desired a presence on these desolate worlds, there was no one overseeing his actions, millions of miles from home. He has long since taken matters into his own hands.

In his first years, he would sell unauthorized Blue Sun products - weapons, medical equipment, clothes and rations - to civilians and Browncoats, turning a much greater profit than even his hefty government salary allowed. As his career progressed, this opportunistic businessman began to accept pirated treasure and equipment in return for goods, sometimes purchasing rare or sought-after pieces from off-world dealers. Once established, his government warehouses serve as massive storehouses and ports from which his underground, illegal activities take place, free from the eye of the Alliance, and all while maintaining the life of a man from the Core.

Although he runs little risk of ever being found out, Dawson moves from planet to planet at various intervals, dusting his tracks as he goes. Of course, this doesn't mean he never gets into trouble. Although most planets have no time or power to put up a fight, some natives are opposed to the appearance of Blue Sun on their land, and can become quite volatile. It is here that his negotiative skills come into play.

Clothing: Dawson is almost always in some sort of multi-tiered, semi-formal attire. His closet is a fusion of traditional Colonial wear and western gear. He favors the classic white button-down, beneath various vests and waistcoats. Outerwear is, without exception, some sort of jacket cut to the knees: often either a trench coat or frock.

Dawson is partial to almost all kinds of neckwear, be it a simple tie or ruffled silk cravat. One of his most prized posessions are a pair of vintage Oxford wingtips, which are one of few surviving reminders of Earth-that-was and worth more than his entire wardrobe combined. He wears stockings and sometimes garters. At home and for leisure he wears luxurious banyans, for which he trades with off-world Indian dealers.
