SAFARI DAY!
As you know Safari Park is a place where Pokemon live peacefully. The project is to make these Pocket Monsters look more realistic, with a bestial appearance. I added a Monster Hunter-like icon, because this is typically what I would add in the monster description!

Beartic is one of the Pokemon with the most wasted potential. It could have been pretty badass with his iced beard, but his creators were like "Badass? Nah, let's add some retard in the creation"... So I redrew it my way!
Made with my beloved pencil on a A5 Moleskine.

I love the realism on this one a lot more than I do the others - taking such a rather simplistic looking Pokémon and giving it this heightened level of detail through your use of tone is just amazing to me.
I adore the way you have handled the ice and the shaping of it around the jaw line. Although... I gotta be honest and say that the top teeth look a bit awkward, like they're twisting around the wrong way...
However ~ this is truly amazing all the same!!

Beartic had a great potential but I don't like what came out of it, it just looks like a bear with a sort of down syndrome. I don't want to be mean, of course, and it is just my opinion, but I don't know, the way it has been created makes it looks almost stupid. When the jaw is opened, it makes me think of an old man without his dentures x) ... It may sound bad and I am so sorry but I don't know how to say it differently! And it saddens me because a bear with an iced beard could have been pretty badass! So I tried to change it a bit and this is how I made this version!

I wouldn't go as far as saying that it looks stupid, it just... there's just something off about the way the head sits, like different parts are done from slightly different angles, like the perspectives are off a wee bit, but that certainly doesn't take away from just how amazing it is overall.
Also, I think it's lack of "badass-ness" is actually rooted in the eye ~ it looks way too gentle in comparison to the rest of the features.

In a way, you're definitely right, this one is a kind of mutant polar bear with some spiky freezy beard x)
This one may look simple but I had a great time on it, I focused on the ice effect like you said and the eye^^

This one appears in the last versions on 3DS, this should explain why you never saw him in the series, he may not have been seen yet

Sorry to be nit-picky, but... Beartic actually appears in Black & White originally for the regular old DS and has appeared in the Black & White anime multiple times :/

Oh yes, sure, and I'm sorry, to be honest I didn't watch the B&W anime series, what I meant was if you're not familiar with the new generations (and just watched the older seasons, like I did) Beartic is a Pokemon you may not have seen

I actually kinda agree with you... I struggled greatly with the BW anime and the games and, actually, my brother skipped out Gen V altogether and so, when he started playing Y, there were almost 200 Pokémon he'd never seen before between the two generations.
