Buffy sighs, staring at the dust pile on the ground for a moment before turning around and heading back to her dorm.

“Watch your mouth little girl, you should know better than to tempt the fates that way. ‘Cos the big bad is back, and this time…”
A twig snaps, giving Spike the time to whirl around to face the group of commandos approaching him through the darkness. He grins at the group and brings on his game face. Well I suppose a little warm up before I feed might be fun.
“Four against one eh? Not very- that’s just bloody cheating!”
Spike yells angrily as he tosses himself down the hill to avoid the whatever that was. The air crackles behind him with electricity as he hits the ground running, hoping to hell his coat isn’t burned

He runs flat out for half a mile before turning back the way he came and peering into the dark, taking a few sniffs to make sure they weren’t still after him.
“Bollocks…”
He mutters, lighting up a cigarette and turning back towards his new location.
A quiet Sunnydale street with not a snack to be found. Back in Sunnydale five minutes and already I’ve got the soldier boys after me, it’s like 1943 all over again. Yeah, I bet Angel’s got something to do with this, stupid poofter. He shakes his head to try and clear it and tosses his cigarette to the ground.

Finally, a bit of luck. He crosses the street to intercept the dark haired co-ed stupid enough to walk these streets at night.
“It’s dangerous for pretty girls to be out so late…”
He says softly, so she almost has to strain to hear him. Her frightened eyes looking him over before glancing around for any other signs of life.
“Oh you don’t have to worry about me, I was just wondering if you wanted me to carry those books for you. They look awfully heavy pet.”
“N-no thank you. I was just heading home, it’s not far.”
“That right? Well at least let me play the gentleman and walk you home? I would hate for anything to happen to you.”
He gives her a charming smile and offers her his arm. She hesitates for a moment before smiling slightly and taking the arm in hers, continuing her walk down the street with him.

“You, you kind of freaked me out. I wasn’t expecting to bump into anyone and what you said was a little…”
“Something must have got lost in translation love. I was just worried. What’s your name?”
“Christine.”
“I’m Spike, sure you don’t want me to carry those books?”
“Spike… No, it’s fine. We’re here now. This is my parents house.”
He eyes the house for a moment before looking back to Christine. She swallows slightly, under the gaze of those intense eyes.
“If you be quiet, you can come in if you like. I should at least make you a coffee after you walked me home.”
Spike smiles to himself. It was almost to easy. Horny co-eds, the American dream. I wonder if the Slayer… Bollocks, shut up Spike. Forget about the Slayer, for now.
“Quiet as you can be.”
Christine smiles back and walks up to the door, unlocking it and stepping inside, holding the door open for him.
“Sure you want me to come in? Last chance pet.”
“Come in Spike.”
He steps inside, shutting the door behind him.
