"Its name is Quetzalcoatl... just call it Q... that's all the time you'll have to say before it tears you apart!"

That actually couldn't be farther from the truth...the part about about him tearing you apart. According to legend the Quetzalcoatl was a god who was not only benevolent and compassionate but he was the only Aztec god who was outright opposed to the practice of human sacrifice, and instead promoted the ideas of metaphorical self sacrifice and humility, acting more like a humble monk and a teacher to man kind than a god, similar to how the titan Prometheus grew to love man and stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. Quetzalcoatl's goal was to share the knowlege, and arts of the gods with man, seeing our potential to build, do, and create great things, and humble the gods and show them (Especially his Dark counterpart brother Tezcatlipoca) that not even they could get away with breaking rules, to a point that when Tezcatlipoca got him drunk and got him to do some terrible things, the day after he atoned for his crimes and publicly punished himself. Oh yeah, I think I've heard of it, and I take it they didn't do justice to the legend of Quetzalcoatl

Yep. But then so does the series this is set in, if this quote is anything to go by:
"True, but in book four, she defeated Ahuizotl and secured the Amulet of Atonement, dispelling the dark magic of the Quetzalcoatl Empress, and thus protecting the basin with the Radiant Shield of Rasdon."
It should be noted that those books turn out to be based on real life events ( in universe of the series, of course ), so there is not only an evil Q Empress, but she also worked with an Ahuizotl. Or so Daring Do, the star and author ( under a pseudonym ) of those books claims.

Ok...from what I've researched of Aztec mythology, the Ahuizotl was a fairly neutral monster. It was a part dog/ part monkey creature with a hand on the end of it's tail that dwelled around the edge of rivers and lakes, and when it walks on land it's fur hardens and spikes up as quills. It waits underwater to pull unsuspecting victims down, then drown and eat them, starting with the eyes (I think) because those are it's favorite (It was either the eyes or fingernails). However if you're killed by an Ahuizotl then your spirit is destine to live on in paradise!Β

Pretty much how he looks in the series, but he is either clearly evil or he and Daring Do have some weird kind of foreplay going on.

Although unlike the Q in the movie this comes from, this Q probably does it only to bad guys.

They did a b-movie film on this aztec god on two movies one is "THE FLYING SERPENT (A Sherlock Holmes film)" and the famous b-movie "Q:The Winged Serpent". In Q he look like a cross between a dragon and pterodactyl also it was a female. Some fan think Godzilla 1998 seem to rip off Q:The Winged Serpent coincidentally.

Quetzalcoatl is not the rain god, that's a different aztec god.
