what kind of varnish do you use to protect the designs? Cool BTW :3

Unfortunately I have no idea. I used an acrylic varnish on the Green Lantern ones as a test, and because the glow paint had to be so thick that it made an awkward ridge, but one the rest I didn't use anything.
If you have any suggestions I'd absolutely look in to it, because some of them do need a bit of protection, though this particular pair hasn't had any problems.

I put the scales in to mimic Captain America's suit, but I see what you mean. :]
