Description Picture taken in Granada, Spain. My hometown .

Water plays a very very important role in this Palace, mainly used in the shape of ponds for it mirror-like reflections, but also everywhere else in the Arabic palace by means of small fountains, or just running on the sides of the maze like woods that take you from one building to the next, especially in the Generalife.

It's not the camera but the Photographer that creates power photographs imo

I am so jealous that Granada is your hometown. Now, if you tell me you live in the Albaycin, I will officially die of jealousy.

Thanks!! yes, Granada casts a spell on anyone that visits there, la ciudad con embrujo Oh no, Albaycin is quite expensive... lol my parents live 15 mins away from town centre in car... in a nearby village... in a couple weeks time I'll be visiting the Alhambra again, the Alhambra in autumn is just AWEsome!! all those leaves in the paths from one place to another and the woods nearby!! can't wait...and this time with a proper camera, still amateur one but should get better pictures than this one I hope!

Thank you for the fave!

My friend `Atramina had told me it was one of her favourite cities in the world, and I hadn't really given that much thought until I actually arrived there - it kind of hit me when I saw the Albaycin, really. And lol yeah I figured it was expensive. Some of the houses there have an incredible view!

Now I'm curious to visit it in autumn - it was May when I went. What would you say is the best season to visit the Alhambra?

May or end of October... beginning of November... mainly because of the weather too... as it gets far too hot in the middle of summer to enjoy it and it is an intensive day of going up and down the stairs... walking and all that...it's still nice and warm in those days, a couple of days ago I was having a lovely walk around there in a strapless shirt, it was that warm! but you still got the leaves of the trees falling while you walk, and everything looks like autumn but without shivering! depending how much you like the autumn as a season really... but the views from the Alhambra in Autumn are way cool as you can see all the trees in different colours... Here is a bad pic of it, it's a pity that in the end I didn't visit the Ahambra, next year perhaps I always visit in autumn... and I thought I could get those views from nearby without having to wake up very early in the morning to queue for a ticket, but nope, those views you only get them from the Alhambra towers...Β pzychonoir.deviantart.com/art/… It's an aweful manip I shall try and find the original and edit it now that I'm better at photoshop... but you get an idea of the views in autumn... in May would be the same but all green!

And stay tuned I Β will be posting some pics of the Alhambra soon...

Very lovely and now you get to enjoy it, so I guess it was good that there were wealthy people back in the old days. It is always too bad that people could not just build things like this for the sake of making it, instead of just for money.

Pzychonoir In reply to azieser [2007-11-20 11:11:24 +0000 UTC]

yeps... well, there are always wealthy people, I guess it's because... only wealthy people have the money to ask people to do such work... and pay them for it. Though by those times I doubt that the people who worked there earned any money from it, perhaps food, and just to keep them alive!

azieser In reply to Pzychonoir [2007-11-20 14:02:06 +0000 UTC]

This is true and while it is not good for the people who created such constructions, we, at least get to enjoy there beauty for free. So there is some long term good that comes out of it.

Pzychonoir In reply to azieser [2007-11-21 01:52:32 +0000 UTC]

hehe.. well.. not for free exactly, one must pay to visit the Alhambra, but at least the price it's not too high!

This is true and the problem is that they have to maintain these old structures.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more ... the designs on the walls and the interior of the building is really awesome. Never been there though but I was totally glued to the television when it was being shown.
