Ist Farol nicht Portugiesisch für Leuchtturm?

Liebe Grüße

Chris

Ohh I didn't know they call it like that... Lamp post is what I've heard the most, but yes, in Spanish Farol to those of the wall, and Farola to the ones that stand from the ground, the tall ones.. and "Faro" we call the lighthouses next to the sea. In Spanish, people can also say "tirarse un farol" which is usually attribute merits you don't have, basically like sort of lying!

Oh yes, I searched the meaning of the word "farol" and it's a sort of lantern, but the other meaning is what you say, a sort of lying, someone who likes to pretend things he never did, a "fanfaron" in french.

Ohh that's funny, we have the word fanfarrón in Spanish too and meaning exactly the same as farolero, perhaps people who created farols were such fanfarons!!

Or maybe farols were created to see the fanfarons when the night is coming !
