I think this is very much how she should be drawn!
The contrast between the facts, that she is a really creepily looking creature, whilst being really nice, have really beautiful heart. I love that exact thing about it.

This is fantastic. I love Calliope but I think it's kind of silly how militantly everyone is drawing her as cute as possible. She said herself, she is not really a pretty creature. And that's okay--she doesn't have to be adorable to be a good person. Anyway, I think it's cool how unique this is.
But it IS going to give me nightmares.
