Can you apply yourself in some movie studio? I'd love to see your work on screen X3

Qarrezel In reply to Mephistodin [2010-07-08 02:29:02 +0000 UTC]

I really have no desire to work in the overly-demanding environment that is a typical special effects studio. And even if I wanted to, it wouldn't be my work anymore. Almost all film costumes are collaborative efforts, and even then usually touched up later with computer effects.

As soon as I can raise about $10,000, I will buy some basic, decent equipment and make my own films. Although maybe I should find some investors or something, or have a crazy fundraiser. It's been hard to set anything aside.

Mephistodin In reply to Qarrezel [2010-07-09 18:18:16 +0000 UTC]

OMG that sounds fun! I made my first film just a while back, lol. College projects, after that, I felt like I could never let go of the camera.

Essentially, if you have any friends with theater majors, you won't need much, just a very artist view and a good perspective of your surroundings. Essentially, just be good with a camera and your amazing costumes and fursuits will do the rest.

Have fun getting a script, etc.... fun fun. You could start off with getting allot of youtube subscribers. Make C movies, then B movies. And then next stop "SCIFI!" lol.

Qarrezel In reply to Mephistodin [2010-07-10 01:25:25 +0000 UTC]

Haha, well that is true. I wanted to get a good camera, some lights, sound equipment and editing software, and was looking at about a $10K bill for all that. But I guess one must start somewhere. Maybe just a half-decent camera to start, and borrow some editing software or find something freeware, and see where it all goes. I'll give it a good think.

Mephistodin In reply to Qarrezel [2010-07-10 03:59:10 +0000 UTC]

Well, I'd get adobe after effects for special effects, realistic ones. And Vegas movie studio for things like credits and final rendering. All of which is easy to get if you have a good internet connection, if you know what I mean.

Mephistodin In reply to Qarrezel [2010-07-10 20:19:09 +0000 UTC]

How many of your works do you have left anyway? Have you sold most of them? Or do you keep them and work else where? Lol, hire those you sold them too, X3.

For the record I'd put one on and record some Dagorhir fights and post them up.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Qarrezel In reply to Mephistodin [2010-07-10 23:33:42 +0000 UTC]

There's three more from the convention to sell - we've got the Smilodon, the orange tabby cat, and the black and white cat which will all be going up for auction over the course of the month.

There was someone who was planning on making a film with one of my costumes... not sure if the film's getting approved, though

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Mephistodin In reply to Qarrezel [2010-07-11 00:38:07 +0000 UTC]

Hey, personally I think a stargate episode would work well with your costumes. Forever Scifi has made non alienish aliens, or rather, not alien enough, except for maybe Dr. Who, but still never aliens of anthropomorphic proportion.

And auctioning your costumes must make some good profit, but you'll need to make more suits allot to make up for the loss in film supplies.

I wonder, could you pull off a Gargoyle Costume? Like Brooklyns from Greg Weismens Disney's Gargoyles? I suggest it because your pretty good with hair, and Brooklyn's got a really cool hair style. Or rather, just try out the hair idea on a next piece. [link]

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Qarrezel In reply to Mephistodin [2010-07-15 15:43:03 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I could probably do hair like that. It's funny, because I've been rewatching that old series.

Yeah, I'll definitely need to make up for film supply costs - especially because someone just pointed me in the direction of the most incredible camera, which is roughly $2500 + $3500 for the lens. It's a DSLR, though, so it would also be an amazing still-photo upgrade for me. I'm pretty hooked.

Mephistodin In reply to Qarrezel [2010-07-15 17:01:57 +0000 UTC]

That show doesn't get enough credit, it's better to watch it at an older age than younger, most kids won't understand the characters because not many would have read any Shakespeare, Macbeth and all that other stuff. But yeah, how good with wings can you be? X3

That's expensive, I can't even see something like that yet, I was hoping to play with some thermal cameras in IADT in Florida some time soon. I want to be CGI animator.

It's like how people in the fandom are willing to pay more for their coat than their car X3.
I subscribed to you on youtube a little while ago, you should make a video link for your clockworks site, and a subscription email update for whenever you post a new video! Of course that's probably far off though.
