Description He never raised his voice. That was the worst thing - the fury of the Time Lord - and then we discovered why. Why this Doctor, who had fought with gods and demons, why he had run away from us and hidden. He was being kind. He wrapped my father in unbreakable chains forged in the heart of a dwarf star.

-The Family of Blood, Doctor Who

Its been waaaay too long since I did a Doctor Who crossover stuff. I intend to do one of these for each of The Family of Pie/Blood. This was the one I had the least inspiration on out of them all, so hopefully the rest will be better. I am so sorry about that background, particularly.

This maybe Doctor's way of showing the Family ofBlood the price they must pay for immortality.

I have no idea. I don't think it was very clear in the show.

900 years, if I remember right. Yeah, this episode was chilling. Its a nice reminder of exactly what the Doctor could be if he stopped playing nice.

900 years of anger held back, never realeashed no matter how annoyed he was until that episode.

Apparently! I thought you might be referring to Pinkie, for a minute. I meant to make up a fate for her, but I just haven't had the inspiration to finish it.

Easy, she became a cake.

Or Pinkie would b turned into a marionette to make children laugh for all eternity.

Qaxis In reply to BlackWidower [2011-06-30 02:40:20 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, wouldn't a pie be more appropriate? My original idea was to show that the narrator here is basically trapped within Pinkie's super hyperactive nature. Her body being a puppet for Laughter or something.

What's to draw? Take a scene from the show and put a caption under it.

Yeah, you get a point. If you don't mind me asking, what would it look like?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Qaxis In reply to BlackWidower [2011-06-30 03:17:10 +0000 UTC]

Thats the tricky thing. For me, at least, its hard to illustrate. My current rough sketch of it involves fluffy haired pinkie "Oooohing" at a present, while a shadowing straight haired one looks down in disdain.

But its probably not the best way to show it. Thats another reason I haven't finished it yet.

One of the Family. Son of Mine. There was four members of the family, you only did three. The one who turns into a scarecrow.

This is awesome, and (strangely enough) not all that much of a stretch to really visualize. Why is it Pinkie's childhood is so easy to interpret as just as a bit creepy, lol.

Qaxis In reply to AtomicGreymon [2011-06-10 19:00:13 +0000 UTC]

Probably cause Pinkie herself is easily to visualize as a bit creepy. And thanks!

hey i kinda liked that episode.
I think it make quite evident that the doctor did really hav eingrained the "not hurt any lving being as much as possible" thing. And again this episode was quite in line with what have seen the Doctor do in past. Wiping out Daleks at least once per season, tricking villains to obliterate themselves and indirectly cause the death of someone(but oh so much wanting it...as to the last human, he did not actually killed her, it was the dehydratation that did the job.....so yeah the Doctor can be kina mean when he want to...thankfully he STRONGLY DO NOT WANT TO. That's the entire point of his existantce , protecting the universe...expecially from himself.

The Doctor is his own worst enemy. If he doesn't stay grounded with a companion, its very possible he could cause as much damage as any of his enemies ever have.

It's not just his self that Th Doctor needs to worry about cause there's also The Master.

I never really liked this episode of Dr. Who, it was just too nonsensical to enjoy. The family of Blood were a danger to innocent people weren't they? Then why would the Doctor put so much effort into trying to spare their lives, when he'd be doing everyone else a huge a favor by snuffing them out? Not to mention his final 'mercy' is essentially giving them a fate worse than death, trapped in limbo, alone, forever...

Also, I find it really lame when a story ends on the note of "Oh, and the hero was never in any REAL danger, he was just holding back." That's why I never liked Superman...

Anway I'm rambling, and it's been forever since I've seen the episode this art was based on so I could have it all wrong. I do like the drawing a lot, though.

Qaxis In reply to TheUnrealChrichan [2011-06-10 18:55:17 +0000 UTC]

I think the Doctor originally thought the family of Blood wouldn't be able to track him, so by hiding they wouldn't be able to do anyone harm. He was wrong, but he does that. And I didn't interpret that as 'mercy.' I thought that was more he was really pissed and wanted them to suffer for what they did.

And it seemed to me that the Family was dangerous up until the Doctor blew up their ship and all their tech. After that they were more or less stuck as ordinary humans.

Thanks for the compliment, anyway!

I read the wikipedia entry for this episode and it seems that you were right. I misinterpreted the ending.

Still, like you said, he made a critical error in assuming he could just hide under the family's noses for a lifetime, and that just seems really ironic to me. For someone who knows just about everything and has 'tangled with gods and demons' to be surprised when such a bold and crazy plan backfires like it did.

I thought he was just kind of panicked when he decided to hide as a human, and it was kind of a snap decision? But I could be wrong xD

Maybe its worked before, and he just doesn't mention that? The whole hiding as a human thing worked out pretty well for The Master, after all. In any case, the doctor likes crazy plans. I don't think he ever does normal ones.
