Sooo...
Recently one of the MH fandom celeb:
pointed out that Monster High seems to be sizeist*.
When they finally launched a chubbier character, the illustration
made fellow MH fandom members go wild. The Sea monster girl based on the real plus size girl came out as a normal size (chubby when compared to the rest of MH characters)
People were saying that the artist who came up with the illustration should have been try harder and the other said that it's hard to make chubby character in Monster High art style.
I thought that I need to try. I picked Gail McKirby (=Candy2021 's character) and tried to draw her as much in original Monster High style as possible.
I need to say that now I understand why the illustrator of the chubby-non-chubby sea ghoul messed it up. I redrew the sketch like five times before I came up with the right proportions. But I must say it was worth all the work I did here.
I hope that my attemp is at least close enough to the Gail we all know and love and that I showed oficial Monster High artists that IT IS possible to draw nice picture of the Monster High chubby Ghoul

Having seen the 'plus size' girl...SHE'S BEAUTIFUL. I hope they don't change her too much while trying to get her the plus size they meant, as opposed to just normal looking except compared to the other characters XD I hope that made sense. It's not meant to be fat bashing at all, I agree she does NOT look plus size and that's bad if they're trying to present that as plus size when it isn't. I just love her design though ^^ THOSE COLOURS.

Yeap, I know what'cha mean. I really like the design of this plus (not so plus) size character, but they shoudl have been make her a bit more chubby.

I know I drew myself and I'm plus size, but since I can't exactly do Monster High, I did it in anime and it came out pretty good, but was a bit tricky.... lol yeah everyone is soo sizeist these days -______-

so far there's only two offically chubby characters on monster high. The cook and his mom it'd be nice to see some curvier chubby characters. Because in cartoons, webisodes and even in real life it seems like people think because a person isn't a size 16 or way lower they don't have fashion sense. How many places have or show nice plus sized clothing that looks a bit nice... It would be nice to see it on monster high and it'd set a good example and show that no matter any size you're wonderful the way you are

I think the same problem, style wise, is in the Winx style. We've never seen an chubby or plus sized character, have we? Not even average characters are shown much. However, both MH and Winx seem to be based a lot on fashion drawings (tall and skinny) and I read somewhere once that taller characters/people are more appealing to the eye than shorter ones, so yeah. Damn my own shortness, haha xD.
I think you did a REALLY great job, it's really not easy to make a more chubby/average character in a style that normally doesn't allow it. We need more of such stuff, amazing work Kuba

And bout the legs, f i'd make them longer, she'd look a lot slimmer and I wanted to keep the chubbiness

I know that was your intention, but chubby still would have slightly longer legs to be proportional (I'm one of those, haha xD), but yeah, that's just my opinion, I hope you didn't mind it

I think, style wise, that Winx has the same problem. Both styles seems to be inspired a lot by fashion drawings (tall and skinny models).
I think she came out greatly, we need more "normal-size" stuff around, however I think you shouldn't be afraid of making her a little taller. Her legs does seem quite short compared to the rest of her :3 I like her chubby-non-chubby-ness

I think you did a fantastic job at trying to draw a plus size character in the MH style. You were able to make her look chubbier without loosing the essence of the style. The official artist who attempted to draw a chubbier girl in the mh style should take a look at this and learn from it ;]
